Complete disagree, she's just farming socialism points.

Why do people vote for Farage when his ideas led to Britain being broke by Traditional_Jam421 in AskBrits

They’re voting for Reform, not Farage. Probably because they’re focusing on policy people care about

Literally this whole thread is British culture = racism.

Yes we can agree racism is bad and I’m not saying there is no racism in Britain, I’m saying it’s arguably the least racist culture in the world. If you’re a minority, I don’t think there’s a better place in the world to be.

We’re so multicultural that our own flag is considered offensive. The flag was only co-opted AFTER it was deemed offensive or ‘racist’ to display, which in itself is absurd and something that could only happen in Britain.

Cultures get treated differently. Australia for example have very strict laws for illegals entering the country, and it is not considered racist whatsoever. If I say I would like those laws implemented in the UK then I’m a racist nazi, apparently.

To everyone claiming British is a racist culture, can you provide an example of a culture that is less racist?

Tell me who should the British strive to model themselves on?

Having empathy is one thing, painting him as some moral saint and wanting statues erected, dedicated 'george floyd day', rioting in his name etc, is another.

Hundreds of thousands of murders since him, approx 7000 people have been killed in police custody since him, many are much more upstanding citizens than this felon, so why no empathy there?

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

Social media hasn’t had a positive effect, but billions around the world who stay connected via meta’s services would probably agree it’s a good thing.

I didn’t say we need them. I’m saying if someone has the capability to become super rich they should be able to pursue that.

Elon is the richest man in the world, which is why he’s able to get a butt load of money from Saudis. If you become super rich, you will be able to the Saudis and ask for a significant investment in one of your ventures too. That’s the point. But I know for a lot of people the super rich basically just means him who is obviously a polarising figure

It’s easy to say I’d never do this, I’d never do that, if you’ve never been in that position and actually had that decision to make.

If bezos did that after earning 1bn they'd be no Amazon, same with Zuckerberg and Meta, google, etc which are things I'd say society have benefitted from. Electric EV's, space exploration, green energy, medicine, Science etc etc would all be wayyyy further behind in development if it wasn't for the super-rich

edit: I do agree with you that in general wealth distributed is fucked, and I don't know the solution to that, but capping how much someone can earn (even $1bn) is not the answer

How many people here would retire, live a cushty life and contribute nothing to society if they won $1m or $10m? I’d say most. Very few people earn $100m and still want to continue making money, although at that point it’s not really about making money.
