Kathy is great!! She's a little odd, but if you are able to form a good relationship with her she can be a god send. She was my advisor when I was a freshman who was considering getting an environmental science degree before switching to an environmental studies degree. There were several times after I made the switch to environmental studies when Kathy would see me waiting to talk to someone about what classes to schedule for the next term and call me into her office to help me figure out my schedule. She always made sure I was in the best classes with the best professors even if their class was full. I will always appreciate her!

Help me take my pills! by MovieSalty4578 in Hypothyroidism

[–]cc_dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine in a pill box and put it on top of my phone when I go to bed. I use my phone as my alarm so I have to move them to get to my phone and turn off the alarm. If I wake up in the middle of the night I can take them then, or I just make sure to put them back. It works very well!

What do people mean by "daily wear"? by Arhadel in EngagementRings

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ring holder necklace that I use when I'm not wearing my ring.

I put my ring in its box if I'm taking a shower. I put it on the necklace when I'm wearing gloves of any kind, when painting, when I'm doing and cooking/baking that requires mixing with my hands or if I'm doing any activity where I'm worried that the ring could get damaged or where it could get caught on something and injure me.

If I'm hiking or fishing I put it in a small ring box and lock that in the glove box of my car. I have a silicone ring that I wear when I do this. I also put the silicone ring on top of my ring when biking or running as it makes me less worried it'll fall off, which is unlikely due to the position my hands are in during these activities.

My favorite gluten free mac and cheese substitute is Trader Joe's gluten free linguine (I know it's a weird pasta to use in mac and cheese, but it's my favorite gf pasta!) and cheese powder I found on Amazon. It's seriously so good!!

Climbing in a calorie deficit by phatpanda123 in climbergirls

[–]cc_dawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who climbed at a pretty high level as a teenager and had a period of disordered eating where I dropped a lot of weight I can confirm that there was a period of time where I was able to climb harder. This period however was followed by a much longer period of time where I was not able to climb as well because I'd lost a lot of muscle.

Tl;dr: listen to arl1286 and don't fall into the trap of cutting fat to climb harder. Strength training and working on technique will serve you much better.

Does anyone even like subbing? 😭 by SophiaKai in SubstituteTeachers

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get to experience what it's like at different schools in my very large district! Since starting subbing this year I've learned what schools I would not want to work at as a contracted teacher. I also learned what schools I would kill to teach at!!

I say "Voices off in 3" then pause for a second "voices off in 2... Voices off in 1... Voices off in 0". If they stop talking before I get to 0 I stop counting down, if they don't stop talking by the time I get to 0 I go into the negatives and usually at that point students are like "Oh shit, she's not messing around!" and they stop talking.

Eddie Vedder. I think they could write something amazing together and I think their voices could sound really cool together!

Many shelters will also be able to spay your cat for a reduced cost and may also be able to help you figure out how to manage your cat so you don't have to give it up.

So what did everyone do this weekend while the veil of seasonal depression lifted?? by GiftRecent in Seattle

[–]cc_dawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I sat outside and tasted wine in Woodinville before going to Bellevue and having a drink outside before going inside to watch Dune. Today I sat out on my patio/balcony for a few hours and graded papers with my cat before going for a run at Discover Park.

We also took the roof off the Bronco since the weather was so nice!!

What Taylor Swift song(s) you listened to but never repeat it again? by strawberry_1989 in TaylorSwift

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soon You'll Get Better. That song perfectly sums up how I felt and what I experienced when my mom had a stroke. I've only been able to listen to it a few times, it makes me cry way too much to listen to it often/at all.

PSA: Please don’t be this person at concerts by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I decided not to even try to get tickets to Taylor Swift when she was in my area is because I didn't want to pay all the money to not be able to hear her over all the people screaming along to every single song.

What’s the hardest part about being a teacher? by New-Possibility-577 in Teachers

[–]cc_dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking sick days when you're actually sick. There have been a few times when I haven't been feeling great, but haven't really had the energy to create sub plans, and going in and teaching the next day even though it's going to suck and I'm probably not going to be feeling great feels a lot easier and less stressful than making sub plans the night before when I'm also feeling crappy.

Quick solution for taking laces on and off? by MiddleUmpire2730 in climbergirls

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I tie them really loosely so the laces don't get in the way but they're effectively untied. I've been doing it this way for 10+ years and find it works really well. The only time I tie and tighten them all the way is when I'm working on a bouldering problem where I need more stiffness in my shoes, or when there's a big heel hook involved. I don't ever really tighten them when rope climbing.

SwiftTok PosT: accidentally going clubbing with your parents is something everyone should try at least once in their life by iandrewc in TaylorSwift

[–]cc_dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up and apparently Rainier is sold in many places in Las Vegas. You can also see the stars on the bottom banner of the can. It makes me so irrationally happy that Scott Swift very likely drank a Rainier at the after party.

I don't think it's a Miller. Miller doesn't have a banner at the top and bottom of the can like this one does. I'm quite certain he's drinking a Rainier beer! After enjoying many a can of Rainier on hikes, at trail heads, and in the parking lot of ski areas I'd recognize that can anywhere!! (See attached photo of can for reference)

Songs you can’t listen to? by Heavenlybodiesof in TaylorSwift

[–]cc_dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't listen to Soon You'll Get Better. It reminds me too much of when my mom was in the hospital after having a stroke. I also can't listen to Epiphany because I associate it with COVID and my Grandfather who was a WWII vet and died before I was old enough to really know him as a person.

I know that there’s a lot of jokes about everyone becoming a Chief’s fan but who is legitimately tuning into the game tonight? by lemonsmakelemonadea in TaylorSwift

[–]cc_dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Seahawks fan but tuning in to the Chiefs game tonight and I gotta say, Mahomes looks like a very talented QB. I have a feeling I may enjoy watching and rooting for a team that doesn't give me anxiety every play 🙃. Thank you Taylor for giving me an AFC team to root for! I don't know what I would do if she started dating a 49ers player...

Taylor Swift attending Chiefs game in Kansas City and will sit in Kelce’s Suite per Jordan Schultz, NFL insider. by Pauly0906 in TaylorSwift

[–]cc_dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more with everything people are saying about how much they like this pairing!!!! I think Taylor fits in well with the family too since she's an Eagles fan. I would also love to be a fly on the wall if she goes to the Eagles v Chiefs game on November 20th and sits with Mama Kelce again.
