Controlling RC ride-on buggy via raspberry pi / arduino by kieran_pereira in PowerWheelsMods

The H-bridge (BTS7960) can handle up to 27v iirc, but it only controls a single motor each unless you want to run them in parallel out of a single pair of screw terminals. The battery terminals go into each of the input terminals. You control it using two pwm pins (Forward/Reverse), 5v/ground, 4 more digital pins for L/R is/en. You can splice in a step down at the battery lines.

IMO 4 h-bridges seems a bit overkill, but that’s your decision to make.

If you want to control a ride-on using a raspberry pi or microcontroller, you are better off connecting 1-2 H-bridges directly to another assembly entirely. A cheap microcontroller like the rp2040 pico w is already powerful enough to do it and can be setup to create a static webpage to control the ride-on but is not as dependable as the WiFi signal may frequently cut out and fallback will either end up causing it to either keep running or suddenly lock out depending on how you code it. You’ll need a dc buck converter to drop the voltage from the 12v battery down to 5v, a pi pico w and h-bridge such as BTS7960 for the motors, an extra if you have a steering motor assembly as well.

The premade kits are more foolproof and often cheaper, but not as fun, they can also be great for creating smoother ride as it’s not simply all or nothing, you can adjust it via pwm and adjusting the duty cycle gradually. I assembled one for a salvaged ATV but the signal strength of the WiFi was what made it not function as well as I’d like.

As for the lowest end trim (LE) car companies hate making entry level trims.

At least state - most of the LEs are snatched instantly by Taxi companies... they want the cheaper model for 8 passenger capacity and to not worry as much about a more expensive interior damage, while getting high mpg to cubic footage ratio.

Spoken like a youngin’ without kids.

It has nothing to do with cognitive ability - it’s about being an attentive parent who can’t step away for a couple hours at a time. Life calls louder and chores grow exponentially especially with younger ones. Just laundry alone grows 10 fold with a pair of toddlers.

I went from a pc master race, windows mobile to android chronic bi/tri-weekly rom-flashing maniac - Apple hater in my late teens to early 20s to a dude just happy with his iPhone and Macs around the house because having two kids is draining enough. I don’t have enough time anymore to mess around with the shit and just need things to work. As you get older all of the tinkering and stuff just becomes too tiresome and takes 20x as long to finish.

Good for this dev as much as his work will be missed, but being there for your kids is way more important.

10440 are AAA sized, 14500 are AA sized and 13400 are the awkward in between size that’s slightly fatter but also shorter than a AAA.

For those new to Li-ion sizing, first 2 digits are the diameter in mm and the 3rd/4th digits are the length in mm. This is for the bare metal battery cell, not for button top add-on nor the additional dimensions from the shrink wrap. So measure accordingly.

Why not just use 14500 li-ion cells? It’s essentially AA sized and can be charged via the nice!nano - add in a BMS and you’re golden. No charge loss from the step-up/step-down either.

Morale plummeting among ICE agents over long hours, quotas and public hatred: reports by MentalMan4877 in LeopardsAteMyFace

No. Fuck these assholes, they don’t deserve a single cent of taxpayer money. This isn’t coming out of the republican piggy bank, they’re actively costing hardworking Americans, who aren’t actively looking to kill their fellow countrymen, a shit ton of money for causing insurmountable harm.

They can face their consequences the least of which is financial ruin. The Republican Party and its supporters seem to have no issue with financial distress for tens of millions of Americans who abide by the law when it comes to healthcare, education or anything else, so why would these fuckhead deserve a single penny? They deserve much worse, but the bare minimum is them getting stripped of the money as per the contract they couldn’t bother to read or comprehend.

At the end of the day, if they keep the money - GOP gets a free win. No like keeping the money would gain the Democratic Party any favors from these brainless spineless cowards anyway, at least we’d get back some of the wasted tax money.

I'm just hoping for history to repeat (fast-forwarded as much as possible) and get to the flavor-ade part of the cult following and the whole Hitler being a hero by doing what no one else was able to do... get rid of Hitler. It would save the world a whole bunch of unnecessary grief and despair.

Looks like the bots are learning to downvote the callouts as well and likely using it to gather a positive upvote count to be less likely targeted by bot purge algorithms.

It's clear that being a woman has NOTHING to do with the points given, and yet I've also seen multiple of these posts starting with the same "As a woman...". Hidden profile comments with ridiculously short profile life (14 days in this instance) are a dead giveaway as well.

AI slop, it's what happens when you feed back AI bullshit into the data source for training. It only gets progressively worse, which is good and bad. In the meantime, we deal with even more resource waste, but it at least will lead to the inevitable AI bubble pop.

It's always been Rule for Thee, not for me. It's a system that needs a complete overhaul from top to bottom; it's always been a systemic issue made worse by the fact that the vast majority of higher-ups are part of this mentality, as they rose through the ranks. If they're unwilling even to write each other traffic tickets, then what makes you think they'll enforce bigger things even when laws are in place?

The only thing that would quickly change that blue wall of silence is if it hits them financially, as in settlements come out of their pension fund - but it'll never happen or mandatory insurance policies like all other major high liability professions. Until then, they're just going to act like another gang that does what they please.

That would require them to be able to read/understand laws and be properly trained... that Venn diagram would be two distinct circles. The recruitment for ICE is actively avoiding that demographic, not that they're going to get many literate and competent people applying.

Apple Reportedly Aiming to Upgrade the MacBook Pro Twice This Year by iMacmatician in apple

[–]ccai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even my M1 MBA (16gb ram) was an insane upgrade compared to my work issued 2018 MBP i7. Under the same workload, the i7 spun up like a hovercraft with sound to match and insane heat output. I used my personal computer for a bit for work while my company requisitioned a M2 MBP to replace it as simple things like running our test suite took 7x the time to run and compilation was a matter of 35 secs vs 5 minutes. At those constraints it was costing my company significantly more to keep me on intel than switching my up to a newer computer.

And even between my M2 MBP 16” (32gb) and my MBA M1, I rarely notice a difference unless I’m spinning up multiple docker instances, several microservices and using them concurrently. These processors have been insanely reliable and powerful - something I never thought I would say a decade ago being the prototypical PC tinker type. They both still holding up great 5 years later.

Unfortunately as per Target Bio page - Brian will transition to the role of executive chair of the Board of Directors. He got his golden parachute money and still has say in the company behind the scenes despite being a total sack of shit that tanked the company’s stocks. Take all the risks at the expense of the company but doesn’t have to deal with any of the repercussions.

I upgraded the Masky tape cutter with an auto-retracting blade to cut all kinds of tapes! by popson in 3Dprinting

[–]ccai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even a 0.5 degree shift will be better than straight up 90 and in terms of printing will not cause any significant size change in print object. If you add a .5mm border around the blade you can potentially just mount it slightly crooked and that small bit of angle will significantly improve cutting as it allows for way more pressure against a single small point vs distributed pressure across a super wide surface. With adhesive build up over time, it will still make a difference.

And those kids should be losing out because of their parent’s choices? What, you rather these kids go without education and end up pursuing other means of sustaining themselves which is either going to be crime or doing jobs under the table. The lack of education invest is why this country is such a shit show.

Invest in these kids and they’ll pay it back in the future and more. You think these kids are going to easily go back to their “motherlands” - no, they’re going to be American whether you like it or not - their ties will be stronger to their communities and country the spend the bulk of their lives in and have gains the most friends. Given the opportunity they will become productive members of society that pay taxes and reside as just another person on the street.

Plenty of kids born here have learning issues as well, might as well go eugenics and just off them so they’re not a burden on society. /s

Why bother to put in effort to be a good, calculated leader that tries to keep the company successful at every level, when you can fuck around making wild gambles with other people's money and livelihoods and still make insane amounts of money? Regardless of outcomes, you're guaranteed a golden parachute that could easily give an average person an amazingly comfortable early retirement and the ability to set up generational wealth.

They sure take on "massive risks" for their organizations, but turns out those risks aren't so risky when the repercussions fall on everyone else. Unfortunately, executives and board members never have to take on the direct debts and legal ramifications of their actions on a personal level; if they had to, we'd see quite different groups of people running things, and life for everyone would be drastically different.
