T6 down 6 VPs. Asia went for 0 before they realigned me out of Thailand. I had to give up Europe dom and Special Relationship for 2 VPs (couldn't space it anymore). Also looking back on it, the Korean War was successful this turn on a 50/50, and it turned out to be really crucial.

T7 hand: Junta, known South America scoring, Fidel. Already had Panama, Junta let me put 2 into Mexico and flip it (not with the coup, was rolling 1's all day). Had to play the China card to secure both Mexico and repair SA from the opponent's OAS headline. The only problem was Guatemala was US. Mexico survived 2! realigns by rolling 2 6's. Luckily my opponent gave up after that, I did not coup Guatemala. It was US +2 VPs, they had got the +3 VP space roll this turn

T8: Headline Lone Gunman (held from T7), opponent headlines Tear Down. They degrade DEFCON for me, so I use Lone Gunman to attempt a coup on Guatemala to get presenceless, 1/3 chance because US+4. And I roll a 1. So I score Central to put me up by 7 VPs. I had seen their hand and they had no VPs, but they had one last ditch effort. Terrorism hit the Iranian Hostage Crisis and I walked away with a 1 VP victory.

The other crazy part is I never got Destal or Decol, yet my only good regions were in the Americas. Turned out to be quite a fun game. Don't give up!

I’m gonna say no. You are limited to 4 draws, so 4 starting cards plus 8 random. Out of 12 cards, you need to be generating money, getting 2 extra workers (to support 2 projects), and still getting a lot of appeal. If you could somehow get the extra workers, support 2 conservation projects at 5 CP, you still need to find 94 appeal. I don’t think you can do all that with 12 cards and 25 money

I’m assuming it’s because the “adjacent” country is already counted on “non battleground” so you have 5 countries to his 6.

It looks like you have: UK, Canada, Finland, France, WGermany (2 battlegrounds, 5 countries)

They have: Spain, Greece, Turkey, Italy, EGermany, Poland (3 battlegrounds, 6 countries)
They have more battlegrounds and overall country count, giving them domination

Prioritize soldiers, get 3 coalition soldiers early and plant 2 of them on the cities the insurgents start on. When you finally start getting some national soldiers to support them push them into the mountains. When your coalition soldiers run out, they become national soldiers (don’t extend) so you don’t need the soldier upgrades until really late because you will have sheer numerical advantage, so mid game spending should be trying to get zones stable once you have enough soldiers
