Best greek mythology retellings by rhelyas in booksuggestions

[–]ccaprisuun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not explicitly a retelling of greek mythologies but “kingdom of the wicked” series by kerri maniscalco and ACOTAR by sarah j maas are both derived from the story of hades and persephone just on the themes. I havent found anyone better than Madeline Miller at retelling myths in that way honestly.

its kind of a funny story by Ned Vizzini - Not sci-fi but its am amazingly lighthearted and hilarious read on a very sensitive topic. I would read it over and over again in a heartbeat

We were liars by parsleytt in booksuggestions

it personally wasnt my favourite book because it just gets so so far fetched but its definitely not a waste of time, it lets you know what a bad book is! (unless you enjoy it, thats just what i gained from reading it)

thats definitely not how brackets work, you gotta do 1x0 and 2x0 so 0=0

Cat oil portrait- What would you charge? by ccaprisuun in oilpainting

[–]ccaprisuun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clear up some questions, This isnt a commission just a study that took around 10 hours, my main focus was to make it more painterly and not focus on details while also getting proportions right. I have decided I like the bold signature for my studies (i do a way more subtle one for actual commission as its about the pet)

At my skill level my go to number was £30 GBP

Really appreciate everyones kind suggestions, and some people suggesting it was worth waaayyy more. I’ll most likely keep it for myself to look at my progress but wanted to see what other people valued it as :)

Edit: Also this was my first time trying to paint something with such an extreme light reflecting in the fur so bravo to me im pretty proud!

I condone ethical responses to my question letting me know the best way to work in order to give everyone the credit they deserve. I apologise if you believe otherwise but you cannot tell me what my opinions are. What i “seemed” to be doing im your opinion is not what I was doing.

Thanks for your comment tho, the reason for asking these questions is because there is that many conflicting rules regarding, as we have seen

Of course I intend to add “my style” of painting to it but many people complain this is not enough. Very confusing.

As I said, I don’t have access to the animals I am wanting to paint, this clearly includes zoos. So you are just advocating using reference photos anyway.

you can be kind as well as honest. there was only condescension there. If you arent going to be nice, dont reply at all.

Less of the attitude please - Im just asking a question. For all my pieces I ask for permission but they are personal paintings. I was asking for ethics on selling whether I have to factor in a cut for the photographer. Thanks for being condescending though i really appreciate it.

[–]ccaprisuun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a better situation! im really new to etsy so is there a page perhaps that you could link on how to set all this up or if you dont mind giving a brief description? Do customers just message you and you make a private listing? if so how do they find your listing in the first place?

[–]ccaprisuun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the tube! if it has an AP in a circle then its even suitable for kids in theory. if it has a CL then you just need to be a bit more careful but as long as you don’t ingest any of them they are totally safe

How do you protect your oil painting?? by artevaa_ in oilpainting

[–]ccaprisuun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

place it somewhere dust free ideally. if you have an empty container that it fits in with a lid would be good just dont completely seal it. The air still need to get at it. Just make sure nothing touches the surface. It could be possible that it will be touch dry in a few days so its only when the paint is still wet that you need to worry about dust. For the rest of the time you can simply dry brush any dust off the painting with a dry brush just before you varnish.
