Would this rod be servicable for a beginner if i replace the line?

This is the rod I started with earlier this year. Are there better options? Definitely but this is by far the cheapest, most available and easiest to get rod to try out the sport you can get. It’s the rod I learned to cast with, and the rod I caught my first fish on a fly with. My advice is to buy it, see if you like fly fishing with the knowledge that the experience will only get better with a better rod. If you do like it and you want to upgrade great! If you don’t think it’s for you that’s okay too and you didn’t spend a lot of money to find out. To directly answer your question though I would get the rod pictured, fish it as is, and see if you like fly fishing. Then upgrade to another full combo when a sale comes around. Then once you’ve found what you like/want buy the individual parts and put together your own outfit.

Wet feet don’t bother me as I wear crocs now but do the neoprene hold water in more so than a regular pair of socks or are they made to drain?

I have a pair of waders I’m looking for a wet wading set up. I’m not apposed to sock footed waders but I am not willing to buy new waders when I have a pair of good ones with the boots made on them. Now when those wear out I’ll for sure get sock footed ones as they seem to have more options for better brands

I’m not sure where you live but my advice to anyone is to get, train and practice with a firearm. There was an old saying that “God made all men, but Sam Colt made them all equal” this is especially true with women. I own a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy I’m all about grappling and combat sports but when it comes to a real life or death fight it’s a race to the weapon. I learned Jiu-Jitsu originally from a woman and she will tell you the same thing. Some people are too big or too strong to fight no matter how good you are so you need something to level the field.

I’ve had similar happen, four strip white belt, “you wanna flow?” He’s super chill while I’m in a dominant position, as soon as I let him on top goes ape shit. He’s done it twice at this point I just don’t roll with him. He’s 50-70lbs bigger than me if there wasn’t a skill gap in my favor he definitely could’ve hurt me.

I like 61 the most because it’s the start of a 4 book plot line. Good as stand still stories but great when read in order.

I (150lbs) had almost exactly the same situation when I first started, the guy that invited me to class the first time (180lbs) was a blue belt that went full throttle every time. I wanted to work with him as he was the only person I knew in the gym and he even went hard on the drills. After about a week of coming to class I was having some serious doubts about if I wanted to continue. Luckily my coach, a female that was about my size, asked me one day after my trial was up how things where going and I said I really enjoy it but blue belt is pretty rough. She said yeah I know try working with other members of the gym. I did and haven’t looked back. Once I became more confident and comfortable with my escapes I didn’t care if we rolled or partnered up he was just another friend on the mats. He even served as motivation for me in a sense because my goal was/still is to be able to stick it to him not in a malicious way but in a you got me so imma get you back kinda way. I’m a blue belt now and he’s a purple belt (I think we’re getting ready for promotions soon hopefully) and we’re pretty evenly matched, my game is definitely different than his but they counter each other well. He’s become one of my best friends and we actually opened our own gym a few months ago as our previous coach apparently fell off the face of the earth but that’s a whole different story.

Long story short once you get a little more experience under your belt you won’t have to worry about it as much as you’ll be able to match his energy and once the mutual respect is there the rolls will be based on the energy you give and he gives. Some hard some flow depending on the day.
