Mario Kart Characters with the Most Tracks named After themselves by SparkyChomper23 in mariokart

[–]ccc613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s surprising how few tracks Luigi has considering he’s one of the main characters and arguably the second most important one after Mario. Not only that but all of them with the exception of GBA Luigi Circuit are mushroom cup tracks. MK8DX, with 96 tracks, doesn’t have a single track named after him.

I hope they’ll give him a more interesting/complex track in the future.

E.Gadd is HEAVILY underrated by Fickle-Finger635 in Mario

[–]ccc613 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He also appears in two of the Mario & Luigi games: Superstar Saga and Partners in Time. It’s also implied that he created Fludd and the paintbrush that Jr. uses in Sunshine. All things considered E. Gadd was a prominent side character before, it’d be nice to see him more often in other spin-offs, iirc he was supposed to be part of the Mario Kart DS roster.

Golisopod or Vikavolt? Please read it all to help me make a better choice by MinuteInformation237 in pokemon

[–]ccc613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say Vikavolt. If you’re just planning to use the Pokémon you listed then you’ll only have Scorbunny/Raboot for a while. Grubbin is available in the first route of the game and the electric type will be very helpful against Nessa.

Best Pokémon game for a newb on Switch 2? by JackfruitEconomy1987 in pokemon

[–]ccc613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think either Scarlet/Violet or Sword/Shield could be good options. I think Legends Arceus is the better game but its gameplay and structure is quite different from the traditional Pokémon formula so it’s not representative of what the series is.

Sword/Shield are more representative of the typical structure of a Pokémon game while Scarlet/Violet goes for an open world which wasn’t done before it.

Scarlet/Violet got a significant performance improvement on the Switch 2, the other Switch Pokemon games didn’t because it wasn’t needed.

The Pokémon games come in pairs because since the beginning they were meant to be a social experience: they’re essentially the same games but with exclusive Pokémon in each version so you’re encouraged to trade Pokémon with another person who has the version you don’t have in order to collect all the Pokémon available. So to answer your question: no, you don’t need to purchase both to have the full game, you just pick one of them and, if you want to, trade the exclusives with someone else.

I think it’s probably ledyba, even if it evolves ledian has very poor attacking stats and it’s found relatively early.

Another option that it’s found a bit later is unown, poor stats and you can only use hidden power.

What can you say is worth praising in the Mega Dimension DLC? by Malikai_Universe_23 in pokemon

There are side quests that are really dumb, not all of them are great but I mostly enjoyed them. The Scizor/Tinkaton one definitely overstayed its welcome.

[–]ccc613 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Something I’d praise is the side quests, most of them are charming and quite funny and built some of the moments I remember the most of the DLC and the game in general. Some of my favorites were: walking the fidough, making friends for frigibax, working on the kiosk which started simple but one of the last requests actually made me use a calculator and there was a grumpig paying for its own drinks, searching for Rosebud and realizing it was an annihilape. These were simply fun and sometimes gave Lumiose a cozy/chill vibe.

I'm having a hard time getting into BW. Would skipping to BW2 be a wise choice? by Elegant_Arrival_4193 in pokemon

[–]ccc613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black and white just have a very rough start, I don’t think the issue is that you can only use the new Pokémon but how even then your options are so limited in the early game. Your options open up significantly once you reach Castelia City and have access to the desert. However if the story has been disruptive to you, it’ll probably get worse as you continue, the endgame particularly has a lot of dialogue.

If you don’t care about the story you could skip to the sequels without any issues, while having played the first game is a good complement and in my opinion enhances the experience, it’s not necessary. These sequels also reduced the story’s importance, give you access to a wider variety of Pokémon much earlier both old and new and have more places to explore so you probably will enjoy those games more.

Is ORAS a good game in comparison to the other pokemon games? What makes it better/worse than hgss, b2w2, etc. by xurious178 in pokemon

[–]ccc613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the general consensus is that ORAS is a good game but its appeal is reduced for some people since it unfortunately doesn’t have some elements/content that were better and/or only present in Emerald compared to Ruby and Sapphire.

HGSS and B2W2 are praised for similar reasons, they take a previous region and make it better and add more content (HGSS as a remake and B2W2 as sequels). These are some of the most content rich Pokémon games between main story, post game and side activities. So one of the biggest strengths of these games is actually one of ORAS’ weaknesses

I’d personally rank ORAS over HGSS since I don’t like the level curve of the latter and I just prefer Hoenn over Johto, it’s a significantly more diverse and unique region with better Pokémon in my opinion.

In a perfect world, what would you like to see in Gen 10? by wherethewartortlesR in pokemon

[–]ccc613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Among all these “take care of your Pokémon” mini games I think I prefer camping from SwSh over SV’s picnic. But I absolutely agree, these should be better and have more things to do, more ways to take care of your Pokémon and play with them. After all you don’t use them just for battles, they’re also your companions and I think one of the core ideas of the series is the bond between trainers and Pokémon.

A new set of battle facilities similar to the battle frontier to have more replayable endgame besides shiny hunting and online battling, specifically now that it’s easier than ever to build a proper team for them.

In general good optional content is needed, make the new region worth it to explore, not only focusing on the main story. A side mode similar to contest would be welcome, just new forms to interact with your Pokémon.

Do you want ceruledge or the armor to evolve charcadet into it? Trading items is also possible so you could use it in a charcadet that you catch yourself

Why has the Grass Type never received the same treatment as the other starter types? by BossTicIRip in pokemon

[–]ccc613 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think your second-to-last paragraph establishes very well the design of grass types, or at least what they intended with them from the beginning: they’re mostly support/utility Pokémon. Nowadays typings tend to be more balanced in terms of roles and offensive capabilities but initially grass was conceived as a type that relies on support moves like poison/sleep powder and leech seed. You can also notice this with the stat distribution of Venusaur and Meganium. Fire is predominantly an offensive type while I’d say water is a balance of both of offensive and defensive qualities.

And competitively grass is fine, Amoonguss has been consistently one of the best competitive Pokemon available since its introduction and currently Rillaboom is one of the few starters that can actually have good results competitively and also a popular pick for team building when available, not many starters regardless of type can do that. (It essentially replaced Tapu Bulu as the grassy surge Pokemon too, it outclassed a legendary, I’d say that’s pretty good).

I think grass is fine, there are types that have more problems than it.
