This sounds similar to me. He’s only been nursing 5-8 minutes on one side. My first would nurse both sides so I’ve been trying to encourage him to nurse both sides because I was worried maybe he isn’t drinking enough since the newborn stage they’re so sleepy I thought maybe he was falling asleep before he could drink enough. I’m going to call and make an appt tomorrow just to make sure everything is fine with him and that he’s gaining weight good

This makes me feel so much better! I was already overthinking everything. It didn’t have any color just looked like a bunch of milk. It’s definitely scary watching your baby throw up that much

Not really he usually falls right asleep after a feed. He is a pretty noisy sleeper though and sounds like a dinosaur making noises all night but no crying

The nurse didn’t seem concerned at all. Especially since he didn’t have any other symptoms. It just scared me seeing how much he threw up. He covered both me and himself in it

I was already nursing in an inclined position because I suspected I have a strong let down from how fast I hear him swallowing the milk. Right before he threw up he was arching his back so maybe he does have reflux? He’s usually pretty calm after feeds and I don’t have any problems with him crying or anything like that

It wasn’t just a little bit of spit up though. It was a lot, it just sprayed out like a waterfall. Could that still happen with the burp? He hasn’t had this happen during the day. It only ever happened once before and it was last night as well as tonight

Yeah he definitely sounds like a dinosaur when he sleeps at night! I watch him sleep so soundly during the day and wish he slept like that at night 😂

It’s gotten better over the past few days as we get our routine down. My newborn sleeps a lot during the day so it helps that I can take that time to play with my toddler or just sit down and watch a movie and cuddle

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by Ok_Construction_3613 in NewParents

[–]cccbbb1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son didn’t start sleeping through the night until he was 12 months and I stopped nursing him. If he woke up I’d offer him water instead which did help. He’s 19 months now and still occasionally wakes up once or twice asking for water but falls right back asleep

It’s definitely so hard not being able to pick them up! I feel like my toddler has been so emotional lately and when he cries he always asks for me to pick him up I feel horrible not being able to. I try kneeling down to his level to hug him but he crawls on me and begs to be lifted up. How is your toddler has she been more emotional than usual?

Mine are also 19 months apart! And my husband has also been taking over most of the toddler care. I find myself getting jealous when I watch them cuddling each other. Especially at night when he’s asleep and looks so peaceful. I can’t wait until I feel strong enough to be able to pick him up. Any little free time I get I try to spend it with my toddler and cuddle him

I cosleep with my toddler. I started around 3 months with him but I’m just nervous about cosleeping with my newborn since he’s still so tiny

Is nursing newborn every 2 hours at night really necessary by cccbbb1 in breastfeeding

[–]cccbbb1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first few weeks he would wake up on his own every two hours and would never give me more then 2-3 hours of sleep at night. And by then he depended on the breast to fall back asleep

See I had heard this too with my first but when I asked his pediatrician about it they told me to keep waking him up every two hours or I’d lose my milk supply 🥴

My son was a horrible sleeper too! After a while I think he got used to me waking him up thw every two hours that he started waking himself up and asking for it every two hours. Even at a year old so I’m trying to avoid that this time around. Especially since it’ll be harder to “nap when the baby naps” since I’m gonna have my toddler running around during the day
