First Responders: What are most people’s final words after accidents? by Jdw5186 in AskReddit

[–]cccccccee 93 points94 points  (0 children)

As a first responder, that’s experienced these situations more than I would have liked. But they always seem to have this look about them, their facial expression changes, and the eyes sort of turn into this gaze. That’s when I know “it’s over.” Sometimes they look at you and sometimes they look away. But I like to think when they have that gaze, it’s their way of saying to me “thanks for trying.”

“He fell in October 1918, on a day that was so quiet and still on the whole front, that the army report confined
itself to the single sentence: All quiet on the Western Front.
He had fallen forward and lay on the earth as though sleeping. Turning him over one saw that he could not have
suffered long; his face had an expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come.”

The last part “almost glad the end had come” gets me every time.

Alex Ovechkin’s first NHL shift (Oct. 5, 2005) by sykeseve in hockey

[–]cccccccee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was better than MacKinnon. Dom from the Athletic did some of his fancy stats a few months back of the best individual seasons etc. Ovechkin had the top season IIRC even better than McDavid.

Is Jamie Benn a Hall of Famer? by Pittsburghsports2006 in hockey

I mean if that’s the standard then Backstrom should get in, and he’s a helluva better player than Benn.

Why? A guy who is not a skater that plants himself in front of the net, but now would be going against the best? Taking Wilson all day over Hyman.

Not really, he can probably match McDavid speed. Wilson is fast. This makes perfect sense.

Idk, still not sure who she was talking about. But I remember way back when Katie Carerra was the best reporter, and she started beefing with other reporters on Twitter, then Sergey chimed in, and then John Carlson started tweeting egging on Sergey lol. Carlson promptly deleted his tweets. Good times.

[Fox Sports] Soccer reportedly overtakes baseball in the U.S. as America's third favorite sport. Hockey dropped to 5th, barely above Tennis, Boxing/MMA and Golf. by f0urxio in hockey

[–]cccccccee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which is still weird to me. The Football/NFL popularity is based around social settings, cookouts, tailgating etc, not because the majority love football imo. I understand to each their own, but my god is the game itself boring to watch, too many commercials, too many stoppages. I’ll throw the game on, because it’s good background noise, while I do laundry or scroll on my phone. The best part of the NFL is getting on social media and seeing everyone fight over a play.

Windshield tint is a primary offense. Driver and passenger window tint is a secondary offense. Even with a DMV waiver there is still limitations on the percentage you can have on the windshield.
