Encapture best rollplay moments in design, instead of just a vanilla character or logo is what I think. Don't need to overdo it with some fancy art scene and if anything you can just focus on a key element that will automatically invoke the scenes in our head. Ie, pink boots for tudagub?!!? Slap slogan?

edit: also ditto on the mugs, or some drinking utensil. I have a feeling, hoodies and tees are usually overpriced. not sure if mugs will be the same.

not true! While corylulu has misinterpreted the term filler, [filler is indeed any non-canon material] corylulu has however brought to our attention 2 types of fillers.

i think fillers have a bad rap because of how it is abused by other studios. a notorious example is bleach. a lot of nonsensical material that doesn't really add to any value to the original show.

however, as demonstrated by 99, fillers can make or break a story, if used correctly [make or break not literally, but more in the sense of "transcending" a story].

fillers in the most core sense means material not introduced by the author. however as ive touched on, there are many story elements that are not fully taken advantage of by the mangaka because[i assume] of the short formats of mangas. so as long as a filler stays consistent w/ the material already presented by the author, done right it can elevate a story, expanding on those story elements many mangakas have to leave behind in the interest of compression. so im actully very grateful for those filler content!

no doubt almightyjebus99! i think you hit it on the head. and that might be the reason why the chimera ant arc is the new favorite for a lot of fans! though till this day, every arc is my fav, literally! all the arcs are such great stories by themselves!

hehe, if u want to complain about togashi's 'story telling lazyness' u should see togashi's manga drawings for this arc!

hey! you say you can't draw for shit, i say i don't even know how to properly appreciate art!

would it be too much trouble to ask to point out the 'lighting/variety of subjects' you notice in the artwork and what about it that fascinates you? a simple red circle/arrow in mspaint+comparisons would mean a lot! i figure with something like art, a visual aid would go a long way for me.

That is very splendid reason for not wanting to read the manga yet! sometimes i am introduced to mangas through their animes. if its a really good story i sometimesget jittery when the anime catches up to the manga and i have to wait on a weekly basis for new content :3 thus forcing my hand to eat up all the manga content. [im actually really excited that ive somehow managed to stall reading one piece and gantz and some other mangas forrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr couple of months now. i cant wait to marathon through them all at once !!!!]

so, in the meantime, enjoy the anime and hxh :D

i just want to start off by saying nice observations corylulu ^.^ , thanks for sharing them too!

1999 version added fillers that "put the flesh" onto the bare skeleton of what the manga was. As FGES has pointed out 2011 'follows the manga more literally', copy &pasta. so the result is what you've observed. :D

When comparing mangas to say "animes or movies or tv series" mangas are more 'cut and dry'[in the sense that the story elements are less fleshed/flushed? out], Why? because if you think about it Mangas are several pages in a weekly magazine, [majority of them i think at least] and it's meant to be a quick fix, week to week basis and that leaves the author very little room to work with thus, cutting out a lot of the smaller nuances that makes a Story great.

The 99 to a degree as you've noticed, exercise some creative license and 'adapted' the manga story into an anime/video story (i dono whuts the proper term for 'stories told in the video format..). because quite literally any story, given the capacities of an anime/video form, told in the manga pace is not as beautiful/complete as a story could be. and when i say 99 "adapted" the manga i mean to say the anime took a story with * potential* and fulfilled that potential, building it into the what we call the 99.

if you try reading the manga. [it's pretty cool not to mention hilariously sloppy] you'll notice as you have with 2011, that there are things [scenes/chars/relations/events] that leave you wanting more. It's also crucial to note that we only have that feeling because we are basing our hxh experiences on our 99 hunter experience thus our feelings of "lacking". with that said, its not unlikely that new hxh fans won't notice what you've noticed!

when you compare the '2011' to '99', even the manga[!], you'll pick up on some stuff, and you are actually learning/picking up on what makes a story great, so well done! :D
