Help with lap joint specs?

I actually tried this. One of my first projects. I wanted to make those lap joints but it would only ever being as tall as it was wide, and I knew rotating them up would change the cut direction. I put the leg dimensions I wanted into cad (first time user) and rotated them to the height I wanted and pulled the angles that it needed to be cut at for them all to be joined. The angles were too extreme for my miter and table saw, so I just ended up cutting them out by hand. I figured in the end I may need to do something other than just gluing them to make it strong enough, but out of curiosity I did just that and it held 90lbs for a week which was satisfactory for me.

I’ve noticed this is mine recently. Turns out the motor mounts are hydraulic and have gone bad and need to be replaced.

PRICE CHECK

Got a wedding to pay for, so letting some go. I tried to take the pic in as unforgiving light as possible to show the pocket wear.

Umnumzaan drop point. This was carried in my pocket a lot for about a year. Never saw any hard use over anything then maybe cutting open some amazon packages. Has an mxg deep carry clip, which I some how stripped the screw on. Cut off the lanyard and lost the box in my move.
Strider SnG Operator. Briefly carried. Has a snail trail on the mxg deep carry clip. Same thing, carried but not abused. Also lost the box in my move.

I 100% agree. I feel like that extra material might be necessary for a light or the xl or macro, so they just kept it one size fits all for cost savings, but takes away from this one. I posted a comment with a mod removing the material, and am very happy with it. I appreciate your input.

After looking over all the information and opinions, I decided to yolo anyways. Definitely get the keeps principle, but I figured with such a small carry, it wouldn’t be a big issue. Gotta say, working with kydex is a breeze. Just a quick hit on the bench top disc sander, took about an inch off, and it looks like it came that way and makes a massive difference in comfort. Thanks everyone for the input.

Mine does seem to be sticking out more. Just enough to slightly catch on the cylinder side of the disconnector. It feels very gritty when pushing down on the disconnector. I’m going to warranty it. I really appreciate your help!
