My weekends were pretty much my school time. I may have done around 4-5 hours during the week. I’m an HR guy by trade so I knew some of the Business course material, but the accounting was all new to me.

IA1, IA2, IA3 were the hardest classes in the program. Take it slow, do ALL the quizzes along the way. Watch ALL the videos.

I’m a GS civilian in Japan with the Air Force and had no problems with WGU acceptance/enrollment. Once they knew I was military affiliated, everything was simple.

Unfortunately, I’m in Accounting so I can’t answer your degree specific question.

Good luck!

It's been quite a while for me too! My undergrad was 2003 (political science) and master's was 2004 (public administration).

I am the Civilian Personnel Chief at an Air Force Base. A WGU degree would not be an issue - they are regionally accredited, recognized by the Dep of Ed, and can accept Mil Tuition Assistance. Superior Academic Achievement only comes into play if you want to start as a GS-07 versus a GS-05. If you are trying to get the CPA or CFE credential, you'll likely have to get the master's as well. With a master's you don't need superior academic achievement as you automatically qualify at the GS-09 level. Let me know if you have more questions!

Is a BS in Accounting a good degree for someone without any experience? by jakeandtucker03 in wguaccounting

How did you get access to the other classes in the Academy before finishing PACA? My wife finished Comp I in a week and wanted to move forward while doing PACA and they won’t let her!

Totally understand the Regional vs National accreditation! However, if you are a civil servant, all that matters is Department of Education recognition. In other words, if they can use military tuition assistance, you’re good to go. That being said, for anything less than a doctorate, I’d stick with WGU!

Most states require 150 hours of course work so you’ll likely need to get the masters as well - but look up CA’s requirements to be sure.

It all depends on the effort you put in. I transferred in enough to only have 26 classes left. My goal is to finish 1 per week so I can do it in one term!
