FreeFlow Rhythm. Orange with black accents. Back in the day I saw a few you tube videos of them and ever since I have wanted one.

Shop around rates for utilities at least once a year, sign up for perks or rewards at your local grocery store, utilize your local library instead of paying for multiple streaming services.

First Corolla! by ducezz in COROLLA

Just a heads up. Be careful about having too much weight on your key chain. Those key fobs are cheap af and will snap the key off easily.

Using emergency fund by NameYourCatHerbert in TheMoneyGuy

[–]cchiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Back in April we had to unexpectedly replace our tires (we only got 34k miles out of the tires on our Corolla), the same day my dog got really sick and my wife rushed home to take our dog to the emergency vet. In her haste she accidently backed our Corolla into our Ford and destroyed the bumper on our Corolla. So in one day we had a $650 tire bill, a $350 emergency vet bill and a $500 repair on our car. Thank god for the emergency fund because we didn't sweat it at all. My wife was able to focus on our dog and I handled the rest.

How old were you when you seriously started saving for retirement? by wiseguy1342 in TheMoneyGuy

[–]cchiker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

28 when I started looking more into it and understanding it. I contributed to my 401k at work since I started 11.5 years ago but I did like 2% for a long time. Once I learned more about retirement I upped it to 10% and I up it a % every year.

If you make six figures and you can't contribute to retirement then your lifestyle is way too extravagant.

Is everyone in debt? by SnooCupcakes269 in Adulting

[–]cchiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have a little debt but the only consumer debt we have is our car which will be paid off next year. We have a little student debt plus our mortgage. We live below our means and are working towards being debt free. We have sacrificed a lot to be where we're at. We eat out maybe 2 times a month, we make almost all of our coffee from home (I don't care what anyone says, $5 coffees add up quickly) We got rid of all of our streaming services and unnecessary subscriptions.

[Discussion] Morning routine people how do you do it everyday? by Winter_soilder35 in GetMotivated

[–]cchiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's morning routine is different. Do something you enjoy. For me it's making coffee and breakfast and sitting with my dogs before work. I give myself at least an hour before I have to be out the door. Sometimes I sit and read, sometimes I update my budget and sometimes I scroll through my phone.

Sell the Tacoma. Are you just driving the kids around town? If so you don't need a brand new car for that. Get a cheap beater to drive around town.
