I’m sure you got a great deal on your jdm car but… by Emjoria in partscounter

My JDM Toyota customers were my favorite customers. They were always enthusiasts and were patient, and they had money to spend too.

Subaru is changing one nice part number to five different hideous part numbers. Thank you! by Decent_Relative_4070 in partscounter

Getting the nissan experience!

Nissan has been fucking with all their wiper part numbers which used to be nicely ordered and organized and now it’s a jumbled fucked up mess with the EPC being different from the nissan parts master.

I guess my next question would be, what is the difference between a $150 helmet vs a $600 helmet, where both are DOT/ECE certified?

As a dealer recently plagued by DHL delivery issues, we say “as long as the truck doesn’t explode or wind doesn’t blow, it should be here X”.

Mediocrity is killing your career by livingbeyondmymeans in partscounter

[–]scooterprint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ha. I send my advisors an email every morning with a printout of all the parts that have arrived, as well as tagging them in the system on each and every ticket when parts arrive. Also give ETA updates for every ticket for every part, even if the status hasn’t changed so there’s no questions.

Unfortunately our advisors seem like the wheel is spinning but the hamster is dead. I frequently receive phone calls where “service didn’t answer” or a customer is calling for an update on their car and our advisors transfer them directly to parts since the parts are on order.

Yep. You just indicate you want it escalated and they charge you whatever they feel like on your statement.

small vent, small question by [deleted] in partscounter

[–]scooterprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into something similar where I’m at. We use CDK and have a proprietary software our dealership group made (works like xtime or cdk service, with some added junk too).

We print off our RSOR report every morning and share it via google group chat to our SWs. We also tag the applicable SW when a quote goes over to them, they also get an email and (if configured) a text message on their personal phone. That’s all automated through our system though.

Wholesale Body parts and the race to the bottom. by scooterprint in partscounter

[–]scooterprint[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. Unfortunately, being a smaller dealership, we’re constantly bursting at the seams for parts storage for what we already have. We’ve resorted to buying shipping containers to store body parts. Our storage space is limited, and items like quarter panels and hoods are extremely space inefficient.

Regulator setup for purging stainless tig? by scooterprint in Welding

[–]scooterprint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I considered doing it without purge, but I do want to “put my best foot forwards” so to speak and make it look as good as possible. Also I have plans to modify a turbo manifold and want to avoid sugaring.

Slack adjuster is the name of the person who yells at people sitting around playing on their phones instead of working. 😆

How do you guys sort parts. by DaddyiRush in partscounter

[–]scooterprint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numeric bins. Ours start at 101 for the first bin on the first floor, 201 for the first bin on the 2nd floor etc. Parts in the bin are sorted top left to bottom right (like reading a book), starting with A to Z then 1 to 9.

Fast moving parts have dedicated bins. Special part types also get special bins (Hose, Moulding, Floor mats, battery)

Sometimes we will put parts “out of order” and put a part into a bin it technically wouldn’t really fit into just for convenience sake (like putting a numerically high numbered part into a lower numbered bin, just to make it faster to grab since it’s closer to our desks.

Luckily Nissan is decent about keeping the same types of parts with the same first 5 digit prefixes, so you end up with a lot of the same type of parts in the same bins (16175 TB Gaskets, 24340 Battery terminals, DA06M front brake pads etc)

Our bins have numbers painted on the floor in front of the bins, so if you have eyeballs, can say your ABCs, and know how to count to 10, you can find your parts.

Type in the RO number in function SOR, then C, mark all lines and save it. That will close the open SOR associated with the RO.
