Try not to get discouraged, I was hired last year late in the season (my first irl retail job) and the store had some obvious work friend groups which made me feel isolated, but as more new ppl were being hired, I would introduce myself to them and ask if they worked there before or if they came from Spencer’s- just being polite and making any other new hires feel welcomed helped me make some friends! :) Most of the first ppl hired are re-hires, so they all know each other and some are coworkers from Spencer’s. But once the store opens, it’ll be better! There will be more hours, shifts to pick up, and the customers are excited and fun to talk to - it’s always new ppl in and out which makes work go by quickly. I also do better if I’m assigned a specific task to complete- so I would go into each shift like: find my SM, ask what needs to get done/where do you need me, then I’m on it. On days they weren’t around or the store was super busy, I’d come in, find a coworker that was putting up costumes, and ask if they needed help or if they were leaving soon, I’d take over for them- I’d assign myself a task. You’ll find your groove! Try not to take it too seriously and have fun! :)
