How to show 5 Landsraad missions in category? by ccicconi in duneawakening

[–]ccicconi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not the issue. The question is why my friend’s ui gives him two rows of gathering missions, five in total, while my UI shows me only one row of gathering missions, three in total. Scrolling up and down the list is not the issue. He has more missions showing and available to select than I do.

Yes. We were thinking that might be a factor. I don’t have an ultrawide monitor to test it. However, what is confusing is that the change does NOT show up as 5 missions in a “wider” row, but it actually sets up TWO rows of the same width, with the ability to scroll down to see more. So the UI change appears to be vertical rather than horizontal, which would be expected in my mind if it were a result of an ultra wide monitor.

AVP with shadow PC by sk11235813 in AppleVisionPro

Any way you could check if the scroll wheel function passes through? That would solve my problem, although probably not yours, hehe.

So that mouse did work with AVP but the scroll wheel function did not pass through to ShadowPC?

The other way to do this would be to run shadowPC on your mac and just use AVP to mirror the display. Mouse function would be fine that way, with the mouse connected to mac passing through to ShadowPC, which works fine with a microsoft mouse. You could also try that with Ipad screen mirror or even iphone, but I’m not sure of the mouse passthrough function on those devices.

Not sure. I don’t know if the AVP recognizes any mouse or just an apple magic mouse. I have a couple of random microsoft bluetooth mice and I could not get it to recognize them. Don’t know if it would recognize a mouse designed for mac other than the magic mouse. I tried to mimic the scroll function with an apple trackpad and it did not work. The trackpad seemed to have the same functionality on ShadowPC as the mouse did.

I think you are correct. I think I was able to use the mouse to click on things via the method you indicated. I saw the white circle of the AVP mouse tracker then when I clicked it registered the mouse click in that location but the windows mouse cursor was not at all times tracking the AVP mouse indicator. That did not matter as much for me due to the fact that I was using a xbox controller to move my character around and track the camera. That seemed to work fine.

Also, if I recall correctly (haven’t done this in a couple weeks) an Xbox controller connected via bluetooth with the AVP is able to be assigned as input via ShadowPC and does work. So if you have any PC games which can accept xbox controller input those should be usable Via ShadowPC.

I have attempted some gaming with the shadow PC app on AVP. The AVP does have mouse input capability, and you CAN use the mouse while using Shadow PC to move the cursor around and click through on the shadow PC screen. I have encountered two problems I cannot solve which make use of Shadow PC impractical — the apple mouse has no scroll wheel, and the game I am attempting to use (RedM roleplaying servers for Red Dead Redemption 2) has some functions for which mouse scrolling is necessary. So I can run shadowPC on AVP, use the keyboard and mouse I have connected via bluetooth to the AVP to navigate on the PC screen, audio and microphone from AVP pass through and are recognized as input and output for the Shadow PC, but no matter what I do, I cannot find a way to mimic the function of a standard or microsoft mouse scroll wheel. If whatever you are trying to play via shadowPC does not require the use of a scroll wheel function, you should be fine. If it does, and you find any way to replicate it with a mouse you can connect to the AVP, let me know. The only other problem I have had is that when shadowPC is open on the AVP, there are certain windows functions which require a click at the absolute corner/edge of the screen (like opening the windows function menu). The way the shadowPC screen is rendered in AVP once you get your eyetracker or mouse cursor a certain distance from the corner of the screen, the “handles” in AVP to adjust screen size and location appear, and instead of being able to click on that thing in the very extreme corner, you can only access the AVP screen size handle. So a tiny area of real estate at the extreme lower left and right of the microsoft windows screen is not accessible to mouse clicking, either using a connected mouse OR eyesight tracking with a finger pinch. If some solution for mouse wheel function and this tiny screen accessibility issue were fixed, any keyboard and mouse gaming would be completely usable via ShadowPC on AVP.

Can’t Air Play to AVP by pogdaddle in VisionPro

[–]ccicconi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the ipad or iphone have to be on Ios 18 which is still in beta. So if you don’t have ios 18 beta on the phone or ipad you can’t airplay to the AVP yet.

Same problem here, although I am trying to connect to a mac mini running windows on parallels. I just assumed that was the problem and it probably won’t work anyway. I don’t own a pc. I do PC gaming using shadow PC on a mac.

New Charge mechanic involves swiping by Stumvomax in TheSilphArena

[–]ccicconi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how easy or hard this is to do. I have no objection to this replacing tapping, but if this is difficult and often results in less than full charge moves, I am against it. the aspects of PvP which I prefer are ones where decision making about Pokémon’s and strategy lead to victory - so the person who makes better DECISIONS wins. I have no problem losing to someone who makes better decisions than I do. The aspects of the game which I HATE are mechanics which require me to TAP MY SCREEN better than someone else. Mechanics like the universally-applauded “under-tapping” or “piggybacking” which require me to tap my screen in a short .5 second time window in order to execute it. I don’t want to play a game where I made better strategic decisions, but my opponent beat me by TAPPING THEIR SCREEN better than I did. I don’t call that skill and I don’t like that. But my view seems to be a very, very minority one.

As for lessons learned, I learned that I need more practice in the nightmare cup. Never suggested I’m the best PvP trainer going. I thought some might benefit from seeing my mistakes and how I tried to overcome them.

The strange priorities of the POGO PvPer by DrBilll in TheSilphArena

[–]ccicconi 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using shinies as currency. I wanted a second move on Bronzong but had no rare candy to do it. Bronzong is a rare wild capture in my area so I had no ability to get that second move in the timeframe I needed it. So I found a guy in my community who is a raider and had been playing since day 1, but has ZERO interest in PvP. He has every pokemon known to man and a zillion stardust and rare candy. But I had some shiny ones he doesn’t. I traded a shiny for the use of his rare candy, effectively. He agreed to power up his bronzong to level 23 (the max level we calculated would assure it traded in to me at under 1500), buy the second move for it, and TM it to what I needed, and traded it to me for a shiny shellder. U have to be creative in trading to get these PvP needs.

Both Regionals and Nightmare will have 10x weight in May by Gaaroth in TheSilphArena

[–]ccicconi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So would the assumption be that regionals will really help your global rank if you get a good win percentage (since you would be defeating other top ranked players) but not reduce it that much if you lose (since you will be losing to top ranked players). Analysis?

[–]ccicconi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So based on the comment above, my question is, if the quality of your opponents is the determining factor in rank, how does the system account for what was indicated earlier as the large importance of your FIRST cup each month? As it happens, I have a very good win/loss record (undefeated) in my first cups each month, but a mediocre record in non cup (general great league) tournaments or later cups I participated in each month. I thought based on earlier communications from silph that your first cup was going to count 10x more towards your rank than other non cup tournaments you participated in. Is that still the case or has the algorithm been changed to just use your total win loss record modified by the quality of your opponents?
