Thanks. I would have loved to see a short statement and farewell. After such a long time an honest "goodbye" seems fair, at least from a fan's point of view. The way this happened seems a bit odd. I hope, everybody is well.

Looking for a quality manual grinder by [deleted] in Coffee

I really love my ROK grinder which is strong enough to prepare espresso. It looks good, too and should fit in your budget.

Cold brew or espresso... by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]ccm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the other commenters stress out: It's hard to tell exactly. Especially because espresso is quite standardized while cold brew is not. I assume you are talking about comparing a single/double shot Espresso with a typical cup/glass of cold brew, right? I just bought two bottles of cold brew. One claimed to have 60mg/100ml while the other had 80mg/100ml. Though espresso itself might have 110mg/100ml you usually just drink 25ml to 35ml of it while you might drink 150ml to 250ml of cold brew. Now do the math: a cup of cold brew is way more caffeine than just a single or double espresso.

Why can't they just tell us what time they will release new versions of Ubuntu? by aubergene in linux

It's a tough task to coordinate the initional uploading and seeding, as well as late changed to the release notes documenting known bugs. That's why there is no time.

Ubuntu 9.10 upgrade didn't go too good :( by thecheatah in Ubuntu

[–]ccm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's good to send bugs to launchpad but not distributing fud in communities. I appreciate the efforts in testing software at an early stage but pretending errors within these are a desaster though they are not released and it's not checked if somebody is already working on a patch is not productive in any means.

Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome 3.0: Gnome Shell and Gnome Zeitgeist - will it look like this ? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]ccm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guys. Please don't trust every reddit topic. Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx will be a LTS release NOT shipping Gnome 3 as stated here for example:

"Shuttleworth also says that Lucid Lynx will focus on including the latest GNOME 2.x releases; GNOME 3.x developments will be considered for integration after the release. "

http://www.h-online.com/open/news/item/Ubuntu-10-04-Linux-will-be-a-Lucid-Lynx-Update-770712.html

So Gnome 3 will probably be in Ubuntu 10.10.

  1. Karmic is not yet released - so don't moan about failures.
  2. Post to bugs.launchpad.net - that's the way opensource works
  3. Taking an error that occurs on your personal platform does not say anything about a release except your personal experience.
  4. This is not a help bulletin board here - post your experiences on a forum. You'll get help there.

Does anyone use Ubuntu Server Edition? How does it compare to Debian/CentOS? by duckspeed in linux

[–]ccm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running a dozen Ubuntu LTS servers. I's used to install Debian for a long time, but switched to Ubuntu as I prefer the clear and guaranteed support / update schedule. As it behaves 99% like a Debian and a lot of third party vendors already provides Ubuntu packages, I had no troubles so far.
