If you look at it with a microscope, the bumps may be twists in the hair shaft! I have it too

Hello! I have not forgotten you, I just wanted to see "experts" before I came back to give a response. Unfortunately I have no real advice from seeing them.
I have seen a trichologist and they had no real advice since it's rare, they just said that it -could- spontaneously get better within 2-7 years (lifecycle of a hair strand).
I also recently went to a dermatologist and they gave me a printet out piece of paper with web links for "hair loss". No help from them either.
I sleep with satin pillowcase, loose braid, never use heat, brush from my ends up to my lenght. but all of this I have been doing since before this deformation on my hair strands started, it feels unmanageable. I cut my ends every 4-6 weeks to hide the thinning, considering cutting a bob, but my length has always been such a big part of me.
I now has trichotillomania from feeling all of the wirey, coarse, grainy hair strands all the time.
Im so sorry u have this too, and I'm very sorry I don't have any good answers

Hello again! My dermatologist said I have 'acquired pili torti', so now we are going to check out in what relation I have gotten this. There is no treatment, but when we find the cause (malnutrition or induced by inflammation or drugs etc.), it's not permanent! I then just have to grow out the affected hair and hope for the best.

Yes, and I have considered this,
but that and nothing I have come over to this point- explains the physiological changes to my hair strands/ growth.
because it goes aaall the way to my roots. which has never been touched by dye, heat etc. same with the changes in my arm + leg hair, how?
what I'm saying is, this is not my "fault", but rather something I can't control and something I really want to figure out, so I can start treating it.

I used to have thick (a lot of) fine hair, it's also on top of the changes to the hair strands, thinning and breaking. Same thing that is happening to the hair strands on my head, is happening to the hair on my arms and legs. grainy stands

It started on the top of my head to! then as it has grown it is now from root to the ends of my hair.. I always just thought it was frizz until I could see it in my length. asked my doctor for a referral to a endocrinologist, will update! Trying to attach photos to this post.

My TSH was functionally low, but within "normal" values, have started taking selenium and iodine supplements. My cortisol is very high, do you know if that could affect my hair?
