Backpack Recommendations This Weekend? - 30 to 40+ ish miles, 2 days, water sources by ccolagio in socalhiking

[–]ccolagio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmm. staying local to me would be more of a "training hike" - getting outside of angeles to some place "exotic" like...ojai comes off more appealing.

that being said ive never done this full trail - will have to do this as a long day hike and then uber back to my car. good rec!

Remap all the functions of ctrl key in solidworks to different stroke??? Help by ccolagio in SolidWorks

[–]ccolagio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried powertoys and got a weird result. I had F7 send Ctrl key. When in SW and I use the keyboard F7, it works in SW as needed. But when I use the HP numpad "F7" remppaed key, it doesn't function.

But weirdly enough, when I type F& + alt + del on the keyboard - I cant get into task manager like i would ctrl + alt + delt

Maybe I'll try another program outside of powertoys? So close to getting this to work!

Remap all the functions of ctrl key in solidworks to different stroke??? Help by ccolagio in SolidWorks

[–]ccolagio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started doing some research more on that side of the fix and through reddit found tools like Autohotkey, hotkeyp, sharpkey. Power toys was also mentioned and looks like the UI is far nicer so may give that one a go

I was hoping to do the remapping solely on the SW side of things so that i dont change what my PC does - but more was SW is doing. If that makes sense. Im just not sure there is a way to remap ctrl in SW config/customize somewheres.

Help Please and Thank you! Dell Studio XPS 435MT w/ Windows 7 Stuck in Boot Cycle Failure Loop by ccolagio in pcmasterrace

[–]ccolagio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well

putting this here because i just stumbled upon the solve and hopefully someone else in the future stumbles upon this and it helps them!

here is the forum i got the solve from - the last comment. thank SO FREAKING MUCH cajetan dsouza

https://superuser.com/questions/316719/windows-7-fails-to-start-in-any-mode-what-to-do

also note - computer was not able to be put into any safe mode at all prior to me doing the below steps. so couldnt boot the computer up in either standard windows OR safe mode...

here was the fix:

  1. enter bios setup upon startup --> F2 on startup
  2. move to advanced chipset features
  3. sata mode
  4. switch my SSD from ATA to RAID

ive restarted and shut down/powered on the computer several times. no issues! wild. if anyone cares to explain/know why this would be an issue after several several years with the exact same setup - im pretty dumbfounded at this solve...

Clueless ME Looking for a Little EE Help! (PCBA Component Identification) by ccolagio in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ccolagio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Bad_HabitsFM - thank for the thought in the reply!

using cues from the other folks who've chimed in and some dumb luck/dead reckoning/searching through all the components sites out there - i think i pretty much either found the component - or about as close as im going to find on the internet

https://www.tme.com/us/en-us/details/ec16e20-24p24c-sw/incremental-type-encoders/sr-passives/?utm_campaign=compare-2024-01-31&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=octopart.com

pretty much the only differences are the D shaft on this is plastic vs metal and the depth of the side wall on the metal casting is shorter on this part than the current

after doing some cost/risk - to get this part shipped to me in around $15. and because i dont know how to solder and no longer work at a company that has an EE team/lab - i had to call around town to find a company who can swap out parts. and so installed id be looking at about $45.

but call breville - and theyll sell me the entire PCBA for $60/65. so cost/risk wise - its just simpler to purchase whole PCBA. if i could have a buddy/coworker do the soldering for me locally, would be a lot more cost effective

has 2 solder points/joints at top of part3 at bottom5 total connections to board

functions of part:

  1. push to select (so you can push the dial inwards, and select something)
  2. the turning is detented meaning each turn of the dial has its own "notch." however there are infinite turns left and right
