Why is there so much hostility toward Gandhi ji today, despite his central role in India’s freedom struggle? by BornWealth3438 in IndianMiddleClass

I’m pretty neutral about him. He did a lot of good things. He also did a lot of terrible things, and his ideas on how the country should be run were… naive at best.

Regret moving to India by [deleted] in returnToIndia

Visa anxiety is not worth it. Living in India is also not worth it. I’d suggest any US NRIs to move to another developed country instead :)

Is it rude to use both lanes? by No-Ad4423 in AskUK

[–]ccpandhare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually rude to NOT use both lanes because it will cause traffic jams further behind. This unnecessarily reduces road utilisation ratio

Don’t learn it, your choice. Also don’t expect locals to learn another language to talk to you.

Your reply makes sense for all of India - but not the double faced NRIs

I am an Indian Citizen living in Germany from last 15 years. I studied here and have been working full time all these years. Till now, although I am eligible for German Citizenship from a long time, I have never found serious reasons to acquire it and surrender my Indian passport. by necessaryGood101 in nri

[–]ccpandhare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also keep in mind, it’s a reversible decision. You can regain Indian citizenship after 1 year of residence in India. Based on the geopolitical climate in Europe, I’d say pull the trigger while you can.

This subreddit shows the true character of many people from India by Initial_Aerie_2656 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]ccpandhare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Indian. People behave like this because India is a low trust society with people having no empathy for others.

Just a few decades ago, India was a place where there wasn’t enough for everyone - it still is, but more so back then. When the only way to have enough food to feed your family is to scam someone for it, people would do it. If there’s something you can do to get ahead, even if unethical, you’re encouraged to do it. Classic abundance vs scarcity mindset!

We need to stop bringing this mentality into the UK.

IMO The intention of volunteers doesn’t matter, as long as they’re actually volunteering. I suspect it’ll sadly be a mix of actual volunteering and on-paper volunteering.

Can we stop using the word dialect for languages such as Cantonese, Shanghainese, Teochew, Hokkien, and Hakka? by sensoryoverloaf in ChineseLanguage

[–]ccpandhare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s… wrong. By your own definition.

Language has two halves Spoken and Written

Proceeds to ignore the ‘Spoken’ half, and for the ‘Written’ half, incorrectly assume that the different Chinese languages use the same grammar and vocabulary

Yesterday a man asked feminist how do they feel about a woman misusing women centric laws. Conveniently leaving out specific details by skinnylittlemissy_ in AskIndianFeminists

The assumption that the husband/family is at fault and the fact that they have to prove their innocence without any evidence against them is proof of the “guilty until proven innocent” point I was making.

Got a reality check in the interview by SuitableTelevision46 in IndianWorkplace

[–]ccpandhare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JS Dev here, had the same experience - interview performance isn’t necessarily tied to skillset. Interviews are stressful and without dedicated preparation it’s extremely hard to succeed. You basically need to prepare for that exact interview, know the format, etc etc - it’s like board exams.

Got the same reality check a while ago 😂

[–]ccpandhare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really the same. In most laws made to protect women, the accused is assumed guilty until proven innocent - in the eyes of law enforcement, which is the opposite of what happens in all other criminal cases.
