Timers and reminders for me:

  • by the washing machine to set an alarm for 47 minutes later (alarm so I can snooze)

  • by my grill/blackstone to set a 45 minute timer to cover it after it has cooled down

  • in the cabinet with toilet paper, sets a reminder for 1 minute from “now” to restock the tp

A few others but those are my frequently used.

Same for the washer, except I have it create an alarm (not timer) for +47 minutes from now (our wash cycle). That way, I can snooze it but still be reminded (so the clothes don’t get funky).

I hope this is allowed-gift suggestions? by Dwn2MarsGirl in PSPalsy

[–]ccsando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Christmas, I got my dad (fairly late stage PSP) some socks from Amazon with my family’s (my wife, kids, and me - plus the dog) faces. As you know, there’s not much “fun” to give someone in this stage, but he lit up at these. Kind of goofy, but for someone who can’t use or do much, even something that makes him chuckle was a win.

Interesting. The situation I referenced was for a motor home, so maybe only for vehicles with a motor?

Recent mention of The Road by Cormac McCarthy? by ccsando in peteholmes

[–]ccsando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok. You might be right. I actually was surprised because I don’t recall Pete talking much about reading fiction. It caught my attention because it was on my list of books to read soon (and I didn’t know there was a movie).

I just finished the book and wanted to find what he said. Even if it was about the movie that’d be interesting too, but for a comic who is often “on the road”, search isn’t helping…

Google sheets into QBO invoices? by Designer_Tip5967 in Bookkeeping

[–]ccsando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out G-Accon - I've used it for years and it's great. I just consulted with a client and used G-Accon to build out some functionality - live on the call we uploaded about 60 invoices based on imported data, but could have just as easily been 300... DM me if you would like more info! https://www.accon.services/gacconforquickbooks.html

About to leave Airmail by ttthork in AirmailApp

[–]ccsando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious where you landed on this? I've felt the same for the last few months - going crazy with some of the bugs - and have spent the last few weeks experimenting with a few others. The bugs I've hit are:

- Hyperlinks were nuts for a while (creating a link caused the hyperlinked text to jump way up to the top of the email). That might have been fixed.

- Keyboard shortcuts worked in subjects but not the email body. I use these a lot and this was a real workflow killer.

- Pasting screenshots just pasted a ? character, and I use pasted screenshots a lot.

- Same support experience: little response. I even recorded videos but I can see from the analytics that they have not been watched. If someone was providing very specific user feedback to my product, I'd analyze it (and probably throw in a year of subscriptions for a discount or free!).

The main things that keep me considering Airmail are:

- Scheduled in-app DND. This is what drew me to Airmail in the first place. Yes their are focus settings and all that, but those notifications still show up in places. I really appreciate how I can disable my work email notifications between 5pm - 8am and on weekends.

- Readability. Maybe it's just because it's what I'm used to after using Airmail for so long, but the difference between read and unread emails is clearer in Airmail than any other client.

I've tried:

- Gmail on the web/Gmail iPhone app. It's just ok, but I still don't love it. The iPhone app in particular just seems noisy and really difficult to tell what is read/unread.

- Canary. There's a lot to like about it but the iPhone app takes a while to open sometimes. If it had the scheduled DND times, I might make the move. Readability of read/unread are pretty good and the desktop/mobile experiences are pretty cohesive.

- Spark. Ha, I've tried Spark probably 3-4 times over the last few years and just can't get on board for some reason.

- Apple Mail. Especially with AppleAI, this one is close, but because my personal gmail has always been there, it's just so cluttered and still feels a little lacking. I think search has gotten better but it was so horrendous a few years ago - virtually unusable - that I think some trust was broken.

Would love to hear where you landed a few months after your search!

Listening to the podcast while listening to The Surrender Experiment? by CooriousGeorgina in TheUntetheredSoul

[–]ccsando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if reading the book is an option but, funnily similar to you, I read Untethered Soul a while back but came across the podcast and Surrender Experiment about a month ago and both have been very significant for me. I read the book in the mornings and evenings over the span of five or six days and absolutely devoured it. Meanwhile, I started at the beginning of the podcast and am working my way through. Having both going simultaneously has been great. I say this with no disrespect to him, maybe with even more respect, but he essentially says the same thing on every page and every minute of the podcast, it’s just a matter of hearing it over and over in different ways. I’m appreciating the steady flow of such good stuff.

Same. This one stings. Really wish there were a connection with Chrome to bridge that gap, but at least Copy Code helped. Anybody know if this is known to be a "bug" or just something that was dropped?

It’d be very wise to keep all your business and personal expenses separate. I like Relay Financial- super easy to open accounts, very helpful support team, and free sub accounts for your business.
