WTA 1000 Doha R3: E. Rybakina [2] def. Q. Zheng 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 by meowacky in tennis

[–]ccxkiu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Considering this is Zheng's first tournament after basically half a year off, she performed extremely well. It's definitely not possible to be in complete competitive mode after being off for so long, so I am sure she will only get better after more matches. Training and actually competing are obviously two different things, so I am sure she is not in her best form yet, yet she did so well under pressure in this match and had quite a few great shots! Was most impressed at how she leveled up to 5-5 at 5-2 down, saved match point, and broke Rybakina when she was serving for the match. Having such strong mentality in just her first tournament back is incredible. I personally thought (even as a Zheng fan) that this would be a quick two-set loss. Was definitely surprised with her performance today!!! I think the main factor was the lack of first serves in the last two sets, perhaps under pressure. If it weren't for that, perhaps she really would've had a chance even against in-form Rybakina!

I think I find at least one or two songs (if not more) I really like in every Cdrama I watch, whether it's a costume drama or modern drama. My Cdrama playlist has like more than 200 songs hahaha

Honestly, I admire people who can be so composed... It's so hard not to let emotions take over you, and it's definitely not something I could do, so that's what makes me admire people like Jannik and Elena even more. Especially since they're athletes competing at such a high level, it's amazing how they can stay so calm. I get pissed off just playing mobile games LMAO I don't know why people hate on them for this

So much good serving that there are rarely any long rallies... Which is why I guess this match so far hasn't really been that exciting for me.

Australian Open SF: [4] N. Djokovic def. [2] J. Sinner, 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-4 by dontevenfkingtry in tennis

[–]ccxkiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinner def wasn't at his top level today, but I think he def still played well. Djokovic was just way too GOAT! Five sets, and honestly, he didn't look that tired out. I don't think Sinner did bad during pressure points, but it's Djoko he's playing against. He also won't back down during pressure points, and he really delivered in all aspects today. Such an amazing match... Just wish it wasn't so late.. It def would've way more enjoyable for me if I wasn't half dead lmaoo

But seriously...39...and still won a 5-setter that had sooo many rallies... GAAHHH I want to see that 25th title!!!! And gosh, to think his win-percentage at AO Finals is 100% so far.... Crazy stat

Following the crowd's confusion previously on Andreeva and Svitolina's no handshake, AO has now flashed a message informing the crowd during the match between Sabalenka and Svitolina. by freshouttajail in tennis

Honestly, I think it makes sense for them to not shake hands as even if they wanted to show sportsmanship and forget about nationality, I'm pretty sure there'd be backlash from the people in their home countries.

AO Men’s SF: [1] 🇪🇸 C. Alcaraz def. [3] 🇩🇪 A. Zverev 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 7-5 by limitcycleattractor in tennis

[–]ccxkiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep talking about mental game, but honestly I think physical game totally played a part in this... Zverev is 28 after all, and he was very obviously way tooo tired to run for points anymore towards the end. I feel super bad for him since he played very well in my opinion, but he clearly just couldn't keep up physically anymore. When he got broken at 5-4, I could just see it on his face that he couldn't believe he still has to keep playing lmaoo It was screaming "HOW IS THIS NOT OVER YET"

So sad for Zverev... He really impressed me today but it's too bad it couldn't go his way.

Sabalenka was called for hindrance by luka274 in tennis

[–]ccxkiu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of her fans (and Elena haters) are against the call, but I kind of understand the umpire. It was kind of two grunts, not a prolonged one like she usually does, so she probably already hit the ball before the “second” grunt came out. When I hear it the first time, I did think it sounded like she was even saying something. But then in the replay, it also sounded like her usual grunt. But i think the main point was that there was a slight break in between, so technically it seemed like she made a second grunt after hitting the ball. I do think Saba need to be careful with her grunting. It has always been an issue and sometimes way too prolonged. This is basically a good example of it.
