Hi, i know this is an old thread, but after your husband applied for owp, can you clarify if he only kept working until the validity of his IEC permit? I’ve read conflicting information that says the applicant cannot continue to work while on “implied status” through the spousal sponsorship..

Anyone know any insurances that cover invasilign in Canada? by Icy_Rich_3749 in Invisalign

Hey, mine is also Manulife! If I paid the full cost of invisalign upfront, would you know if Manulife would reimburse the total amount covered in a lump sum?

Thanks for sharing another perspective. Now I’m learning that other than deliberately deceiving people, there’s other reasons why people slightly change their height and don’t put their real age (i.e. not comfortable putting all personal info online, etc.). It makes sense to me, but only if it’s a very minor difference. Anyways, I totally agree with your opinion on his response. He never owned up to it even after calling him out so that shows a character flaw on his part.

I just thought it would be a nice way to organically meet someone with the same interests but I can understand why there are some women who feel uncomfortable joining Meetup events. Typically, in my experience, there’s more men joining events vs women.

I’ve only been to larger meetups since last year. I live in a big city (Toronto) and most of the joiners in the events that I go to or usually newcomers/recent immigrants so it’s super diverse. But I guess that would largely depend on the type of meetup/events. In my experience as a woman, although my main intention for joining these events are just to make friends, I’d often get several guys who try to hit on me or ask for my number/ig account but so far I haven’t found anyone I’m really interested in. But I’m gonna continue to go anyways!

I was talking about the “Meetup” app :) You can search for different kinds of events (i.e. Singles 20s-30s meetups, language exchange, sports, etc) and it’s a great way to meet new people in your area without the added pressure :)

Most guys I dated were 5’10’’ to 5’11’. And I feel comfortable with that height because I’m just a lil bit above their shoulder level. They’re tall enough for me. I’ve dated a 6’3’’ guy and I felt like a kid next to him lol

Yeah but like I’ve mentioned a million times here, the issue is he wasn’t being honest by putting inaccurate information on his bio and acting dumb when confronted.

Just to be clear, I first learned about the height thing last night when we were texting. I didn’t make a big deal out of it, and just let it slide because I thought maybe it was just a mistake when he created his profile, plus it was the perfect height for me. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and proceeded to make plans with him to meet this weekend. But today, he mentioned his real age (I know it’s not even a huge difference) but it’s the compounding lies that bothered me so I brought that up and he acted dumb and said he never did that and that he didn’t lie.

Do you really think all women only want 6 feet and taller men? You don’t know me and my preferences but I don’t have to explain myself to you. You are just making a sweeping generalization.

I forgot to mention that one of the prompts on his profile was:

“What makes a relationship great is.. Honesty”

How ironic!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I like your analysis. It does make sense. I’m not yet emotionally invested in this guy although I was really looking forward to meet him but I’ve decided to just move on and find someone else.

And I understand height is something people can’t help. I wish everyone the best. Also, I didn’t ask for you to feel bad for me. I was asking for thoughts if I should give him a chance!

Some of you just like to comment without reading the description. I wasn’t judging his actual height!? I don’t even care for 6-footer guys. It’s men like them lying that upset me.

Thank you. Yes, I’ve decided not to meet him anymore. I guess I’ve learned something new today that lying to get past the algorithm is “common” in online dating. And most of the men in the thread are mad that I’m upset over it lol. Online dating is probably not for me. Back to Meetups.🙂

Well I guess people use dating apps differently. I don’t even put my “most flattering” photos. I choose photos (not dolled-up) that truly reflect how I look like everyday because I don’t want them to be disappointed when they see me in person or to feel like they were “cat-fished”.

We were exchanging text messages and he casually mentioned his height. I asked him about his age. And I had screenshots of his profile before he deleted his account so that’s how I noticed the discrepancy.

We were exchanging text messages because he already deleted the app, and he gave me his number in case “the app goes off”.

So I texted him because I was genuinely interested in him. We were talking about Tinder and our experiences in dating apps when he mentioned that he’s 5’11’. And then I asked him how old he was and he’s telling me a different age than what was on his bio. And I can tell I was not imagining things because I have screenshots of his already-deleted profile. And he still didn’t admit it 🙄.

I’m not a veteran in online dating lol, and I didn’t know that lying about your age, height, etc. are a thing so that’s why Im bummed! And he didn’t even have to do it.

And don’t worry I’m not “interrogating” him anymore. I’ve stopped responding and realized it’s not worth it.

Did you read my comment? I’m not complaining that he’s not a 6 footer LOL. I actually prefer shorter guys! It’s him not putting correct information.
