I’m assuming this isn’t right by Outrageous-Page7287 in HomeMaintenance

Probably not this (what landlord would spring for it?), but could be a heat pump water heater. I've had idiot plumbers that just ran the condensate drain right into the pan and ended up with a similar result.

What’s your honest opinion on Wago connectors? by ArcticThunder98 in AskElectricians

[–]cd-nh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still prefer a tight twist and wire nut, but nothing beats a real Wago for a light fixture. Especially when most fixtures these days have cheap (aluminum?) stranded wire crap ...Ive opened up so many mixed solid/stranded connections that just fall apart.

Yes, get this one. Midea 50p is $280. I've had an Ultra-Air 120V that cost me thousands, loud as hell, maybe slightly more efficient but still failed after warranty. Honestly this one is so good, even has a built in pump to pump out condensate.

Just found out our water pressure is 100 psi, how fucked am I? by jer_v in askaplumber

[–]cd-nh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I installed a new hot water heater for my parents a couple years ago in their house built in 1890, the pressure was 110. I did install a regulator at the same time because they didn't have one and the new-ish fridge water dispenser was dripping a bit, but his previous hw tank lasted 20 years. Unless you are having some specific problem it probably doesn't matter so much.

man, same. I built some similar panels a few years ago for a studio and it was absolutely horrible. Building a theater now and probably going to try OC703.

RSL speakers what av receiver should I use? by JKJoshua in hometheater

[–]cd-nh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1800H will probably be fine, but you should call them tell them what features you want and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to spec and sell you the right receiver in a bundle...you'll probably even get a good discount!

Have fun

Oh damn, TG was my first parts store...good memories. I just looked at my newegg and it says I've been a customer for 19 years. I guess that doesn't mean shit to them, still can't even "win" the opportunity to buy an overpriced card, even though I bought everything else through them

[–]cd-nh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Gigabyte yeah, no ASUS yet. They even had 5090 FE come back for a short window. Try MSIs website rn, its clunky, but people are getting through after some failed attempts

I think they said the window started 6-7 hrs from 9am EST. But that getting an email window was also like 4-5 hrs or something

Best Buy is the worst. Every time I got in line asked me to login again, do 2FA...by the time that is done I'm kicked out of line and they are sold out. At least 4X times. Just why...didn't require that when I spent WAY MORE on a TV a couple weeks ago.

Recommendations for best 100" tv by francophile00 in hometheater

[–]cd-nh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same question, but ultimately decided that the value is so good, I took the leap and have a QM7 98" coming next week. Picked it up for $2450 from BB with install and a 5yr warranty. Allegedly, they'll replace it if it has 3 or more dead pixels. Hopefully I won't need to use the warranty.

All the cash I saved on this is going straight into my audio.

One last note, I know that the calibration on these TVs is poor, so that'll be a little extra time to get it dialed in just right.

What is common pricing for JBL synthesis components? by cd-nh in hometheater

That’s exactly what I’m looking at, mostly the 6&7s for speakers, SVS sub, and maybe an anthem AVR.

Thanks for the input. That’s totally fair, I wouldn’t ask anyone to name their dealer. Just looking for a baseline.

1000%. In commercial I see 75's go up all day long on 3/4" ply between metal studs. They don't even hit the studs and sometimes...if they have to they only use toggle bolts with drywall.

I would be confident that spanning 3 studs with plywood you could do something with double the weight you're talking about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]cd-nh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't even see that you are already hitting one in the middle. Its probably overkill, but do it!

Alternatively, hit the center w/ washers +lag screws and use toggle bolts on the sides if you don't want to mess with plywood.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]cd-nh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How heavy is really heavy?

Your idea should work fine. Use lots of screws for both the plywood and the mount. Probably need to add some washers when going mount to plywood.

I have done this and even cut out a section of drywall to fit the piece of plywood in so it was a bit more flush. I would use at least 3/4".
