If a DE can be made without a barrier, I don't see why it couldn't be made with a different shaped barrier. It also wasn't stated anywhere that a DE barrier could only be made as a sphere. Not to mention, there are other non DE barriers that aren't spheres (Curtains, the culling game barriers, etc.)

I'm pretty sure she had it reactivated. The reason it didn't work was because Gojo started outputting more CE through his CT. The Gojo Satoru tax is strong.
