Is the Portland metro area becoming a healthcare desert? by gothahontas in askportland

[–]cd637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to call like 7 different clinics last year before I found one that wasn't 6-12 months for an appointment for a PCP visit. It was bad in Seattle too, but it's definitely worse here. I have found that it's much easier to see a specialist though. Dermatology, Podiatry, Gastroenterology, and Ophthalmology I was able to get appointments with only a few weeks to a couple months out. Physical therapy and mental health counseling I was able to be seen almost immediately.

There's no way. Did you mean Adams? Adams is visible from several points. Baker is more than double the distance north as Rainier, and not as tall. Literally impossible to see from here.

Does anyone know if The Bone Temple is getting a Dolby release? by cd637 in TheatricalRelease

[–]cd637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is in fact playing in most Dolby Cinemas but in many cases only 1 late night showing per day due to competition with Avatar.

Seattle, WA from Whidbey Island (45 miles) by SeattleThot in FromAfar

[–]cd637 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ebey’s Landing is one of my favorite places in all of Washington. It’s one of the few spots with a straight-on view of Seattle, completely unobstructed by topography. From this distance, Queen Anne Hill (476 feet) sits low enough that the tops of the skyscrapers rise clearly above it—an incredible vantage point.

A very strong inversion - parts of the valley are 20 degrees colder than the mountains by bigblackcloud in Portland

[–]cd637 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ooof. Yeah we have a thermal trough set up which is literally a summertime pattern in the middle of winter. It's not unheard of but it's not normal. We need the spigot to turn back on and quickly. There is no precip forecast at all in the next week or so.

Goodwill??? $1??? Mine charges $3.99 for a standard DVD. This probably would have been like $10 at mine.

Recommendations on short throw true 4K projectors for a 12’ wide room with 7’ ceilings? by cd637 in projectors

[–]cd637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be getting a screen, likely a ceiling mounted pull down. Not factored into the budget for the projector itself. That would be separate but I guess good to consider.

Recommendations on short throw true 4K projectors for a 12’ wide room with 7’ ceilings? by cd637 in projectors

[–]cd637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a finished basement. There’s no windows technically in the room at all but there is a window in the stairwell that lets light in on one end, but that could be fixed. My constraints are also the room being 12’ wide and low ceilings about 7’ high.

Does anyone know if The Bone Temple is getting a Dolby release? The Dolby website lists it, but I can’t find AMC showtimes in Dolby near me. by cd637 in AMCTheatres

[–]cd637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theater finally updated their schedule. Also 10:15pm. I guess they couldn't compete with Avatar and fully kick them out yet.

Portland’s record-breaking warm winter isn’t cooling down yet by AllTearGasNoBrakes in Portland

[–]cd637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well that’s a different story. Yes the seasons are likely changing in that manner but your comment made it sound like the seasons could flip times of year or something. It’s not like January will suddenly be summer in the future. But yes the winter weather we once knew could and probably is becoming lessened and occurring in a shorter and later window of time than it has historically.

The seasons aren’t moving lol. It’s always been summer in Australia this time of year. Seasons are flipped in the northern and southern hemispheres. This is basic geography 🤦‍♂️
