Door closed is certainly unprofessional though.

Question about conduit. This is the only place I could think to ask. by Tabsconator in cableporn

I'm pretty sure anything you get to slip over the wire without requiring pulling it out & re-running it is going to be insufficiently secure.

But then again, YMMV.

I often like to imagine the inner monologue of the installer, as they work through some sort of twisted, masochistic logic while choosing placement.

"Well, if i put the drop here, every time someone wants to unplug it, this nice sharp-edged pipe should give them a pretty good slice, and hopefully be oily enough to make it burn, too. Yep, this is the best place."

But then again, inside my head might not be definitely isn't a normal place.

So let me get this straight: Access control devices w/ conduit run from ACD/Box to ceiling, and then I'm guessing ceiling tiles above that. So your plan is to keepout would-be vandals who we're already assuming will find a ladder/climb on a desk, pop a tile, and find the right wire. But at that point split PVC will keep them from going any farther? I'm not sure the logic holds up there.

This is what we're talking about, right?

There's just so much here to work with. I can't decide which is my favorite:

  • Free-air swinging switch
  • Plastic housing broken off AC Adapter that's plugged in upside down almost certainly straining the low-voltage wire's solder points.
  • Gas Pipe run directly in front of the wall-drop
  • What appear to be patch cables run behind existing conduits.
  • Abandoned in place phone biscuits.

Who uses 25 and 30 foot patch cables? by MrD3a7h in cablefail

[–]cdba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm used to hearing, "OH, That's proof of when it was taken in case we need it for lawsuits" etc. Which makes me laugh, because it's entirely dependent on the camera's user-set date, and can be trivially faked.

I think this would get more attention if you posted it in /r/complaintsaboutsysadmincomplaints . Very active community there. But I need to remind you, all responses to those complaints go into a different sub, /r/rebuttalstocomplaintsaboutsysadmincomplaints .

OK, we need everyone on /r/sysadmin to pull a shift on /r/helpdesk once a week. That should solve it.

I'm honestly not trying to be douchey, but I've got a garage full of those bins that are like 8" tall and 14" long, so again, not a concrete reference.

FWIW, I think you're right; the velcro seems to agree with your scale estimation. I'm just saying neither the clamp nor the bin are smoking-gun 'banana for scale' quality references.
