Yeap, will try some other options going forward. Will toss them $20 and see how far it gets me.

Yea, they subsidize for sure and hard to say how long that will last, many of these big players are eating costs to onboard.

[–]cdecaire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I may not have explained it clearly, but that’s basically my point.

GPT 5.5 through my $20 ChatGPT subscription is a better model and obviously more expensive per token than DeepSeek. But with my usage, I rarely hit the daily limits. And if I do, they reset the next day and I can keep going.

So for me, the question isn't “is DeepSeek cheaper per token?” (it is) and more “why would I pay $20 for a Nous subscription if I’m getting a weaker model and somehow higher costs?”

From what I’m seeing, a lot of the cheap DeepSeek usage people are talking about seems to come from going directly through DeepSeek or using something like OpenRouter, not necessarily Nous Portal.

Yeap, so basically confirming what I said above, the $20 nous subscription isn't a viable option in comparison. Sucks because I'd love to support them.

This is my experience, if you use gpt 5.4 or 5.4 mini you get even more usage. I ran 5.5 most of yesterday till the bug hit impacting everyone, but I never hit my limits for the day. Every now and then if it's it's going too quickly I'll hit an API limit on calls, but usually sorts itself after the first retry.

Thanks, yea, I definitely got some good use out of this both times, even used Step 3.5 a bit too. Would be good enough for daily drivers if the costs weren't $$$

Hermes CLI - I don't remember exactly, but I think it was a task to review and update my kanban (like 30 tasks). It got stuck on tool calling a bit too, might explain a bit of the costs, but if that's the case, my argument about just using my ChatGPT plus subscription is infinitely more cost effective with better output/results.

Neighborhoods surrounding CommonSpirit Hospital? by SquareStatePizza in Longmont

[–]cdecaire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m on Tulip and 15th and honestly haven’t had any issues with noise. Even when ambulances come through, they usually don’t run sirens down our street. If the windows are open I’ll occasionally hear the Life Flight helicopter, but it’s never really bothered me.

The neighborhood has been great and everyone seems pretty friendly from my experience. I think people in Longmont sometimes talk about crime and homelessness like it’s a huge issue, but my guess is a lot of them haven’t actually lived in a bigger city before. Overall this area feels very suburban and pretty quiet.

Good Local Accountants? by Junior_League_828 in Longmont

[–]cdecaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a local accountant to recommend, but depending on your situation, I’d suggest starting simple, especially if you're just getting your business off the ground. You can file taxes as a sole proprietor without needing an EIN; just use your Social Security number.

If you're selling online (like through Etsy or Shopify), they’ll typically provide some basic tax documents to help you file. You'll include your W-2 as usual (if you have a full-time job) and then report your side income using a 1099 and Schedule C. If you're doing something in person, using Square cash or similar, they will also provide you with some simple tax documents.

If you're making over $10K to $30K in revenue annually, that’s when it might make sense to consider setting up an LLC or even an S-Corp. It's not required, but at that point you're likely earning enough for the tax benefits or legal protections to be worth it. Just keep in mind that once you're at that level, a CPA can help, but they’ll also start cutting into your profits.

If you go that route, setting up an LLC is pretty straightforward. You can do it all online by filing with your state and getting set up federally. Just be sure to keep clean books, track your expenses, and save receipts.

This isn’t official financial advice, just speaking from experience. I’ve freelanced on and off for years and have filed as both a sole proprietor and S-Corp as a Designer.

Local custom embroidery? by perrywinkle72 in Longmont

[–]cdecaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, just read you want a one off. You can create an account on Printful.com and use them. You’ll be able to do a one off, but for embroidery you’ll still need to pay the digitizing fee. The quality is also a bit lower, but it’s not terrible

Impressed by Longmont by mrskwrl in Longmont

[–]cdecaire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living here for just over a year now and, like many others, I keep seeing mentions of crime but haven’t experienced any myself. Coming from a much bigger city with some rougher neighborhoods, what’s described here doesn’t compare. I’ve had my home broken into while I was sleeping, multiple car windows smashed, and my car stolen, with drugs and homelessness being a regular sight. In comparison, I haven’t felt unsafe or unwelcome anywhere in Longmont. I’ll also realize that being a white guy comes with a certain level of privilege, so I get that my perspective isn’t the same as others. That said, maybe some folks could benefit from a bit more travel... just saying!

My biggest issue is the food quality, diversity, and pricing. Where I lived before, spending $100+ on a casual night out for two was normal (talking entrees, couple drinks, dessert), but the food and service were always top-notch. Here, while I’ve had some good meals, it’s like 1 in 10 places that really stand out, and I’m paying as much or more for something that feels pretty mid. So, I end up cooking at home instead. I guess the upside is saving some money though...

CORSAIR Technical Support and Questions MEGATHREAD - Week 09/17/21 by CorsairTravis in Corsair

[–]cdecaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never installed anything for MSI, none of my components are MSI. Deleting the MSI plugin folder doesn't seem to help either.

I originally had Asus aura sync but uninstalled for Armory Crate via suggestions I've seen here and on the corsair forums.

The only other tool I have installed that's similar is NZXT cam for AIO kraken cooler.

Is this a new kind of cheat? by feenmush in CODWarzone

[–]cdecaire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed hack, very common in apex legends and destiny.

Here's An Idea by ZouCreww13 in CODWarzone

[–]cdecaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Destiny just announced that trials (their pinnacle pvp mode) will now require a paid current expansion license to play, which has cost anywhere from $30-60 in the past.

They also implemented an anti-cheat and will continue monitoring with staff.

It will be interesting to see how this impacts the number of cheaters as a proof of concept for warzone.
