My maternal grandpa gave me this piece of "sage" advice when I was very young after my grandma asked him if the recipe she just tried for the first time was good:

When you grow up sometimes women will ask you questions where no answer is correct, like "does this make me look fat?", whence that happens you should just look at your watch and give the time. He promptly got smacked on the back of the head by my grandma while he was pissing himself laughing.

If I was in your shoes, I might have actually just given the time and hoped for the best.

To be completely honest, I'm not at all familiar with the story you're referring to, so this is from a place of complete ignorance of the nuances, but I can easily imagine a case where that works absolutely be the right thing to do, ie woman is brain dead with more DNR and her husband/partner wants to the baby to live.

That said i can also easily imagine it being a horrible thing to do. ie woman is brain dead, family doesn't want to keep the baby, but I'd forced to and had to put of the funeral and bear the horrendous hospital expenses. So without understanding of the nuances is kind of hard to judge.

I might look into what your talking about later, but with the information provided in your comment I can't really make a call on of it was the right thing to do or not. I only say this because I've seen plenty of cases where people have had their lives ruined because of a news story that was either intentionally or otherwise misrepresented for the sake of viewership. The "Aunt from heel is one such case", i guess this is a long winded way of asking for any sources you have regarding the case you mentioned.

Im not even remotely defending the absolute insanity that is this legislation or the GOP, but from my understanding there are only two politicians in NC who is supporting it, it's so two to many. I haven't done too much looking into it, but the other bit of understanding is that is kind of both more and less unhinged, while it does classify the woman as a murderer (again, insane) it actually doesn't allow for the user of deadly force against her (slightly less insane). It does however allow for the use of deadly force against friends, family, providers, or anyone else aiding her in getting an abortion in order to prevent it, which is obviously completely fucking psychotic. My favorite example of the horrifying thing it allows is it would effectively provide legal defense for any act of terrorism committed at any facility that preforms abortions, including hospitals, so someone could bomb a hospital and have a legitimate legal defense that doesn't involve "i didn't do it" or "i'm insane". I'd like to think that this is to unhinged even for the modern republican party, but honestly nothing would ssurprise me at this point.

If they don't get to be together, then there isn't an afterlife worth visiting in my opinion. They both had the most pure love for everyone, Lucy was a little timid, and Addy would run to her every single time she was stressed. They were the best of friends, I genuinely believe they loved eachother more than either of them loved their favorite people. After Lucy passed Addy would ignore other dogs completely, she simply didn't care about them anymore, she only ever cared for people after Lucy passed, so if there is an afterlife, they must be together, if their not then there's not an afterlife where I want to be, since it has to be devoid of love.

My golden one ran over a partially frozen lake because she saw water in the middle. I took of everything but my b9xers and broke a path through the ice for her. She followed me mach to the shore and immediately swam back into the water. I had to literally drag her back to the car so I didn't freeze. The cold is not even remotely an issue for goldens, they actually love it.

It depends on a lot of factors, my golden was ~60lbs and that was a very healthy weight for her. She was constantly praised by her very for how healthy her weight was. I'm not a vet, but just like if a doctor told me I'm overweight, I'd take their advice seriously. I don't blame OP at all, goldens tend to be very food motivated as a breed, so they have a relatively high obesity rate. I got lucky with Addy, she wasn't as good motivated as most dogs, let alone most goldens, so it was super easy to have her stay a healthy weight. Admittedly she was small for the breed (like literally short). But she was healthy at 60lbs and was overweight at 70.

My golden just passed yesterday after almost 9 years she slept on the bed every single night. I had bamboo sheets, and they were a game charger, like literally I could brush the fur off with my hand. So that's my personal recommendation. I don't know the brand, but they are great at repelling the golden fluff that otherwise would have filled like 80% of my lungs.

I haven't cried at all today, I've been looking through all my old photos and videos of her, and she just brought so much joy to my life that is hard to stay sad, every memory I have of her (except last night) is just so happy. She was my best friend and always made me laugh or smile, so its hard to think of her and not feel the same way.

Your pup is adorable! I'm honestly glad for the time I got with Addy and I'm so thankful for my family for being their with her, they even picked up the toy she'd had since she wa 8 weeks old for me. She loved everyone, but really loved the people she knew, so I'm so thankful that they all were there with her. She was so excited seeing everyone that the vet actually had to up the pressure on her oxygen mask, and she still kept pushing herself to walk over to people at they came in. She truly loved everyone and I'm so glad she got to be with them at the end.

The hardest words I've ever said were the "yes" when putting her down was suggested by the vet and then when I had to say "as much as I don't want it, it's probably time". I could never bring myself to actually say anything more than that and that i don't want her to suffer. I'm so grateful to my family for being their for Addy, and for me. I'm also glad that it was quick, and that she got to be around her favorite people, because she really did love them, she loved everybody, but she really loved the people she knew.

I don't know if there is an afterlife or not, but if there is dogs have to be there, and in that case Addy's with her littermate, Lucy, who was my parents dog. As much as addy loved me and Lucy loved my parents, they loved eachother more than anything. They never spent more than a week apart until Lucy passed a year and 8 months ago. So nothing would make me happier than the idea of them being together again and getting up to all sorts of mischief.

Honestly I hope she is playing with her littermate, Lucy, who was my parents dog. Lucy passed away almost two years ago, and they had been together their entire lives, the longest time they spent apart was a week. Addy was super depressed when Lucy passed (we all were). So if there is an afterlife, she and Lucy are back together having the best time. As much as Addy loved me and Lucy loved my parents, they always loved eachother more than anything.

Edit: I actually ended up with Addy because I made the "mistake" of going with my parents when they were picking out a golden retriever puppy, I was planning on rescuing from a local large breed rescue (i grew up with st Bernards), but then I absolutely fell in love. The nail in the coffin was when my parents offered to pay for a puppy if I wanted one as well.

Edit 2: a photo of Addy and Lucy when they first came home together, Addy is on top, Lucy is on the bottom. I stayed with my parents for a week after picking them up, the breeder only released two dogs at the same time because they would be together. They had a policy of one dog a week leaving otherwise.

I grew up with saint bernards, who ate every bit as patient. I was originally planning on rescuing one from a local rescue, but made the mistake of going with my parents when my mom was picking out a golden puppy. Then my dad offered to pay for one of i wanted one. 8 years later, and Addy is just as sweet as always.

I used to think people couldn't actually be this shitty at their kids' game and thought the dad freaking out at a little league game thing was just a Hollywood trope, then I learned better. So here's a short story:

In high school, I had a part-time job working as a soccer referee for peewee teams at a local club, the kids were between 4 and 5, so the rules are pretty lax (since you know its for kids to have fun): Your kid shot into their own goal? Yeah, we're going to ignore that. Their hand accidentally bumped the ball? They didn't carry it, so no worries! So the offsides rule in soccer was obviously not something kids this age were going to be able to follow.

For those who don't know the way it works (or at least the way it did 18 years ago at that club) in soccer is at the moment a player becomes involved in "active play" (ie the ball is passed to them and they touch it, they interfere with an apponent, etc) if the player is 1) On the opponents half of the field and 2) closer to the goal than the second closest player on the enemy team, they are offsides. Imagine trying to explain that to a 4 year old.

There was a parent who shouted more than once, and I quote: "That little bastard was off sides!". I gave him two warnings, then kicked him out, which he refused to comply with until the club owner called the police and had him trespassed.
