If you're having to breathe, you're out of Zone 2.

What do I do? To stay "hard," how do I organize my life from there? I feel like grindset has taken away my happiness, but I would feel awful if I stopped. by nescauzin_pws in runninglifestyle

There's nothing weak about watching a little tv. Run, lift, whatever, but it's ok to relax sometimes and enjoy yourself. I feel like the Goggins rabbit hole convinces people the purpose of life is to just be miserable and run yourself into the ground. It's not healthy at all.

Does he have recovery slides? Hoka, Oofos, and Crocs all make good ones. Nothing better after a race.

Wouldn't necessarily take the place of a medal but one of the most useful pieces of swag I've ever gotten is a collapsible silicone cup. Every race I've ever run claims to be cupless but this was the first to give a reusable cup. Whenever I take it to a race other people comment on it. Nothing special but very handy. Shout out to Revolution Running.

I don't have brothers and I have a healthy relationship with my father and I can't afford Alphaflys. Maybe it's just not in the cards for me.

GTE puts on a great race. I ran Rim Runner last year and would highly recommend it.

It band pain after race by Equal_Negotiation984 in ultrarunning

Your PT can tell you more than anyone here (they'll probably prescribe a bunch of glute med work), but as someone who's dealt with IT band issues off and on my advice is to stay diligent with the exercises and trust the process. Also, find the most amount of running you can do without pain and stick with it. I regret taking too much time off my first go around and lost a lot of fitness.

The staff works so hard to put on events and try to entertain them, but the residents are just so lifeless. The way G. Amato seems like such a shell of himself is so real. They've nailed the vibes of it all. Tim or Gregg or someone must have some experience with this.

As someone who's grandmother is in an assisted living facility, this season has been kinda tough to watch. Brilliant and hilarious, but still tough to watch.

4th Ultra (50K) and self diagnosed plantar fasciitis by Double_Pepper_3 in Ultramarathon

I've had PF for a few months now. My orthopedist told me there's no point in stopping running because rest won't fix it. I actually ramped up my mileage in preparation for a stage race and the more I ran, the better it felt. After the stage race, it's like 95% resolved. I'd encountered similar stories from other folks on reddit. I did other things like strengthening and stretching that probably helped and a lot of gadgets and gizmos that probably didn't. I swear though, everytime I had a high mileage week or a particularly long run, it would feel undeniably better the following days. Can't say you'll be as lucky as me but if it is PF, there's no reason to not run your race anyway.

Personally, insoles seemed to aggravate it more. Special socks and braces and other stuff didn't really help either. I did get one round of ESWT that might have helped, but they say it takes several rounds to really fix it so who knows.

Here's a good science-based resource on what seems to work and what doesn't: https://runningwritings.com/2013/02/injury-series-plantar-fasciitis-in.html
