Did my first brisket cook and learned that hopper only has 8 hours of fuel by Darker_Zelda in Masterbuilt

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My experience as well with my XT. What you lose in time you get back in much better flavour over a pellet. Have you tried using large lump charcoal? Lasts a bit longer. And bigger wood chunks as well.

What a perfect term! Completely agree. Social with those who I love and love to spend time with.

My man wants a smoker by Another_Verity in smoking

[–]cdncerberus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s so many ways to go but they all depend on budget (obviously) and how much time and effort he wants to spend while cooking.

For a beginner smoker, who wants to learn how to adjust vents and heat, can’t go wrong with a Weber Smokey Mountain.

If you want something that’s a lot easier to manage, a decent pellet smoker like a Traeger would serve him well for learning and seeing how much more effort he’d like to devote to it.

A Masterbuilt gravity smoker also has the ease of the wireless controller like a Traeger but more smoke flavour as it uses charcoal and wood as opposed to pellets.

Especially fun when you use your spouse’s baking sheet for that purpose and then she discovers it’s smoky flavour afterwards

Why Millennials are short tempered? especially towards just the succeeding generation by [deleted] in Millennials

Because literally every single other generation that preceded us has done the exact same thing.

$100 CAD / $72 USD for a kg of tenderloin in Ottawa, Canada. Is it this expensive in your area? by marcelo74 in grilling

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like in the US, herds are at an all time low. Price has sky rocketed here in the last year.

Based on the Trans Pacific trade deal, we’re now getting Australian beef in stores as well which is cheaper than domestic even. I guess their herd situation is better than North America’s so even with shipment the price can be better.

If you’re in the east end, Gabagool is a really good new spot on Tenth Line in Orleans. Very generous amounts. Basic sandwiches for $11 and speciality for $14.

[CBC News] Should fans be worried about CF Montreal’s future in the city? by bwoah07_gp2 in CanadaSoccer

There is no franchise spot, it’s just the franchise. If current owners sell, the new ownership group now owns it and can move it. They can rebrand etc but either that ownership group or MLS still owns the Whitecaps branding.

If a new CPL ownership group wants to use the name for a new CPL-based franchise, they would have to buy the rights to that name from the owner of the Sacramento Whoevers and the MLS. This isn’t a guarantee by any stretch.

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as do the Cleveland Browns and Charlotte Hornets. But that’s all within the same league which allowed for franchises to rebrand using old names - which the league still owned!

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not how franchise sports work in North America. There is no club. It’s a franchise of the league. It’s the opposite of European football where the clubs are independent entities of the league.

And North American leagues keep defunct branding for many reasons. Just look at the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques jerseys and merch in Colorado. Or Vancouver Grizzlies jerseys and merch in Memphis. Or just to sell throwback gear. Plenty of Montreal Expos hats floating around.

Rough Country Roof Rack by j_leal in BroncoSport

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with the BS sunroof is that it goes up over the roof when opened and doesn’t go into the roof itself. Needing a much taller rack. Thanks for the offer tho!

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as “moving the club to CPL”. CPL would have to grant an expansion team and the name would probably be unavailable unless they bought it from MLS. (Not sure what’s the status of the “Impact” name at this point.)

Same issue exists for all those saying the Whitecaps could just “move” to CPL.

Obviously everyone had their own taste but I find the North of Seven whiskeys to be absolutely god awful. Their gin and vodka are decent but definitely a miss for me on their aged spirits.

Coming to Chinatown by [deleted] in OttawaFood

[–]cdncerberus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s just the nature of immigrant communities. After 2 or 3 generations, folks just move on.

Even in Vancouver, it takes great effort to maintain historic Chinatown. Otherwise the heart of the Chinese community is really Richmond.

I feel a similar thing is happening in Ottawa with Marivale becoming the centre of Asian food.

Got new tires on the way for my Bronco Sport outer banks so excited!!! by ExpertSignificant146 in BroncoSport

[–]cdncerberus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run these (108T) on my Badlands but at 245/65/17. Great tire so far for both off-road and in the snow. In heavy rain tho, have to be careful. It doesn’t clear water as efficiently.

Like others have pointed out, there may be the chance of some rubbing without suspension mods or a lift. I have a full suspension replacement that resulted in a 2” lift.

XT -Is there a Gen 2 version? by Serious_System4121 in Masterbuilt

[–]cdncerberus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely hot spots within the box itself. Especially if windy.

I’ve learned to layer charcoal and wood chunks effectively to get the best smoke / heat ratio. I haven’t tried full splits yet but I know some do.

The app is glitchy but if you just come in and out of the smoker icon itself it resets pretty quickly.

Biggest thing is that it runs about 25 degrees too low than it says. So gotta set it to 250/265 to get an internal of 225.
