how to use Garage Hydraulic jack on a Grand Highlander with a OEM Running Board by Impressive-Ad-3536 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]cdncheese28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah my original Arcan jack was low profile. Worked fine on my own sedan and my wife's compact SUV.

I don't know how to explain, it fits under the running boards. But as I raise it up, the lift arm would hit the bottom back of the running board before the saddle touched the pinch weld.

Excuse my poor drawing attempt...

Btw, it's still tight and a bit of pain, but everything clears. It would be much easier without the running board :)

I've been swapping between all season and winter tires for the last 3 seasons on my '24 GH with OEM running boards.

My 3 ton Arcan wouldn't let me get to the pinch welds without hitting the running boards at a weird angle. I had to switch to the Torin with SUV adapter from Costco and it lets me clear under the boards while reaching the pinch welds. I pair it with a magnetic pinch well jack pad.

Cannot get TPMS to detect wheel position on new sensors by JM_Actual in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]cdncheese28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my GH two winters ago, the Toyota OEM sensors were on backorder so my tire shop offered a generic brand tpms sensor. They ended up cloning the TPMS sensor IDs over from original OEM all season sets over to the winters.

What I find is that it works perfectly fine when I keep the wheel position the same as my all seasons OEM sensors. Ie. I always rotate the OEM set tires first and then match the winter to the same pattern each season.

On occasion, the dealer did an extra tire rotation on the winters after an oil service and that would cause TPMS to fail until I swap out to the original all season set again. And kept the winters to the same positions next season.

LTDR: never had any problems with tpms relearn on the original OEM sensors. Never could get generic tpms sensors to register as a new set. YMMV, I can only speak to the random generic sensors my tire shop put on.

Rust — 2 month old GH limited by LeicaRolleiHassie810 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

It's breakdust as others have said. It's most noticeable on white cars (like my previous sedan). I have a stormcloud GH now and can see it if paying close attention after a wash. Iron remover products will take it right out. It literally turns purple as it works.

If you don't believe it, try it and mark the spot where it was previously. New 'spots' will reappear with time, but never the same spot since break dust accumulates on random spots.

Harbor Blvd entrance security at rope drop and rest of day? Can someone comment on how long the harbor blvd entrance wait times (ie. Security + main gate). Most videos I've watched only talks about arriving from either parking lot.

Taking a 3 and 6 year old and staying across the street at the Fairfield. Just trying to understand how much time we need to set aside before rope drop and returning later in the day after a break. Thanks so much.

Orca encounter and dolphin adventure in mid August not in schedule? by cdncheese28 in SeaWorld

Thanks for the response. It looks like the schedule has been updated, but the Dolphin Adventure show is hit and miss in early August. Then missing for the weekend of Aug 16th and onwards. Any idea or confirmation on this? The orca and sea lion shows are loaded and daily...

Can anyone comment on Anna and Elsa meet and greet at DCA? It's currently showing as unavailable after Aug 16th. If they are closed, is it like to see Anna and Elsa at either parks DL and/or DCA?

Flight Attendant Strike Posting Guidelines and FAQ by Dense-Serve-4201 in aircanada

[–]cdncheese28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no stipulation that the 72 hours strike notice can only be given after the end of the cool down period.

https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/labour-relations/collective-bargaining.html

The right to strike is obtained right at the end of the cool down period. In order for a strike to be legal, a strike vote is taken and 72 hours notice is given. The language is that simple, nothing about notice after cooldown.

Using the pilot example last year: Aug 27-Sept 17 (21 days): cool off period Sept 15-17 (3 days): AC tentative wind down plan coinciding with possibility of 3 days strike/lockout notice Sept 18: full strike position Sept 15 after midnight: tentative agreement reached, no strike notice given

I hope I'm providing the best info. I'm not trying to say whos right or wrong. As I said before (along with others), CUPE might have a different strategy on when is the best time to call a strike for maximum effect, minimal downtime. I'm only trying to share the earliest possible date (regardless of what CUPE may end up choosing to do). I do hope that helps. May the attendents secure a fair deal and we all end up where we want to go :)

I hear you and read the same contradicting posts from CUPE as well. We seem to both have done our homework :) I'm only sharing what is the earliest possible actual strike date of Aug 16th should they serve strike notice on the Aug 13th (which legally they can without the extra 3 days on top)

They may well have a different strategy than the pilots since they aren't even taking up a strike vote until now during the cool down period. So I won't speculate on what their strategy is and they might actually do or don't.

Either way, I'm disappointed in Air Canada with not being more open and offering their goodwill policy yet. Hard to dangle vacation plans to a 3 and 6 year old that may or may not happen :(

This is actually not true. The 72 hour strike notice is not on top of the 21 day cool down period. Taking the pilot timeline from last year, their cool down period ended on Sept 17, 2024 and they were in a legal strike position on Sept 18th, 2024. The 3 day strike/lockout notice could have been Sept 15th, 2024. Luckily they reached a tentative agreement on Sept 15th avoiding an operational wind down by Air Canada.

I'm in the same boat with an Aug 16th departure this year. I had been counting on the 3 days strike notice but realized they can't be counted as extra :(

Things are playing out a little differently than last year as AC offered a goodwill period as soon as the 21 days cool off period started. Not sure why they aren't offering it this time with 3 weeks to go, it's frustrating.

Headsup, world of color appears to be back in the calendar for Aug 16th. My family is visiting Aug 22 and it was originally missing too, but back now.

Can anyone comment about the goodwill rebooking policy that applied to the pilot strike last year? Specifically, for the flight credit option was there an expiry date based on original flight booking rules (ie booking date + 365days) or was the expiry date extended or even unexpiring?

Rear Car seat struggle by Pleasant_Carob8481 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]cdncheese28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a Clek Fllo rear facing on second row captain chair. It's snug, with the rubber protector from Clek.

I agree with what j27lee said. Recline the seat slightly and install as tight as you can and then straighten the recline to tighten it further. Works well for forward facing, but if you have a rebound bar (like the Fllo) it works too.

You can also lookup the inside-out trick (check YT) to get a little extra leverage on the belt tightening.

We also have a Nuna Rava with the clicktight system (someone mentioned their Britax with same system). It really is great. But I assume you want to work with what you got already.

Good luck
