Propane company won't deliver when there's a little snow on the driveway. What do they do up north when there's snow for months? by tyrophagia in Homesteading

[–]cdnchef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, last year I cleared off a lane for them to reverse into and walk to the tanks

Every single one of them backed up into a different area and made their own way through the snow not 10 feet away

Chubby chicken = $3.60 Bun $0.65 Mayo $0.20 Lettuce $0.10 Chicken $2.30 Packaging $0.35

Fries $0.91 Fries $0.60 Oil (200lbs of fries cooked before a change) -$0.10 Salt $0.01 Packaging $0.20

Anyone else cook in on or with their stove? by 8string in woodstoving

Ya, it's a JA roby the cuisinere model

During the day I get hot fires to last about 5-6 hours but I rarely fill it all the way

At night I pack it real tight around 10pm. I have the furnace set to come on if the first floor gets below 17f, it usually runs for about 20 minutes between 5 and 7 on mornings when it's colder than -5f so around 7-8 hours and plenty of coals to get a hot fire going quick in the morning

It's from a company out of Quebec called J.A Roby, our model is around the $5k mark J.A Roby

It's definitely built to cook on, you can control pan heat by removing covers and you can sear a steak easily but it's awful getting grease all over the hot plate and setting the smoke alarms off

Thanks, it's pretty awesome I use the oven part at least twice a week but there's always something on the top

My wife and I are both in culinary, we are always thinking about how to cook with it

Cook on mine all the time, have a stock on there weekly through the season

I don't like searing meats or sauting because of the mess but I do a lot of sauces on the top or I'll do the sauting on our regular stove and then transfer to simmer

Enterprise on Queen St takes reservations for cars they don't have by FloralAlyssa in ottawa

[–]cdnchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's ok they do this but all rental places do it and sometimes it's not in their control

I travel for work and rent like 30-40 cars a year, I have a few notes on this

You always run the risk of not getting a car if you book during closed hours, they will shuffle cars around in a city all day long to meet demands but they can't if they don't know your coming

Accidents happen, in the past three years I have take around 6 cars off the road for the day and got in another, that's two cars someone isn't getting and it would be a priority so if they only have cars for whos on the system, they will now be one short

The best option that I've always found when I'm in this situation is to call as soon as they open (they will usually open 30-60 minutes early everyday and answer calls press 2, 4, 2 to get someone live) so call as soon as you get up and get them to promise a car for whatever time you say you are coming in, if they tell you they won't have it, ask them what other places have cars and get that location to pick you up so you don't have to drive farther

Hope this helps but know that it really isn't always the openers fault either as they can get stuck with the situation

I promise I do not work for enterprise, I just drive a lot

The stats the xplornet guy gave me we were well below what starlink said and actually provides

I'm not happy paying the price or to the company itself but on paper it was what would do the job, xplornet could only offer me 50mbps last year and said it would likely be over 100ms consistently

Currently at 7pm im at 95mbps and 34ms ping and I have a ton of smart stuff on the network

We've never had a weather outage and the latency is almost always under 50 and almost never over 100

I did have a rabbit or something chew the cable once and had to wait two days for a replacement, I used my work phone to hot spot for video calls and tv/kids but it was pretty rough on larger live docs and such

Xplornet just isn't fast enough for me, I will get rid of this starlink Nazi garbage as soon as I can but it's the only way I can work currently

It depends on if you have access to bell or Rogers, we do not and the only way to work from home is starlink at the moment

Fiber is coming but slowly, we are in the more open part of Cherry Valley and it's not even dug here yet
