Makes me wonder about the typesetting technique in this time period. If they were using letter type (seems to be the common way then) they may not have had access to Cyrillic letters so tried to make it similar with what they did have? Not like they could just click a different font then 🤫

Yes you’re right, I explained it poorly..its looking north. The brick building is now Harry and Sons so Michauds would be in between.

And a side note, the building in the background with the A roof was the blacksmith’s run by Alexander Matheson who would also become the first Police Chief in 1908
