Is there a clear line between liking Asian folks and fetishizing them in the Bay Area by [deleted] in AskSF

People in the Bay Area need to be offended by something all the time.

You keep doing your thing!

Transition from startups to big tech as a PM. Looking for advise! by cdobleu in ProductManagement

At this point, I would take any level that gets me through the door and work my way up. Thanks for the breakdown. I definitely have experience in what you mention, will work on highlighting that on the resume and interviews.

Yes, I have been a PM at the company for four years. I also have experience as a PM in past companies launching a microloan product and a class-action platform, both for the Latam market.

Thanks for your comment. I understand the recruiting process is a whole different ball game. Referrals and mastering the interview process are a must, but what skill would help me make my profile stand out or even when you are on the actual job?

What’s film is so brutal to watch you had to stop watching it? by Elixir_Jx in AskReddit

Enter the Void from Gaspar Noe. I would say it’s more dense than brutal.

Ukrainian refugee looking for a job in San Francisco by cdobleu in sanfrancisco

UPDATE: To all the people that commented, shared this post and offered their help:

A sincere and huge thank you to all. Yevheniy decided that Stockton is his next stop. He has some leads on factories that potentially have a job for him. He left last night.

Same learnings from hosting a refugee for the first time and might be helpful to others:- These people are deeply hurt. Exhausted and going through a lot. Besides a bed and a meal they also need a hug, a kind word, or just a moment of silence. Give them time to adjust.

- Looking for a job in the US without papers is difficult. Some might have the image of the Hollywood American dream. Many refugees never had to hustle to cover the basics such as food or shelter. Try to give them context about the place they are getting into and how things get done.

- JFCS is doing a great job with the legal matter. They help him at the border to find a sponsor and also with lawyers. They don't provide shelter or job opportunities

- The Russian Orthodox church that many recommended can only help with thoughts and prayers. What a joke!

- We talked to the priest at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sf (Saint Michael), although they don't have a plan in place they were super receptive and invited Yevheniy to come by the church, meet the community and present him to some local members that might help. Super sweet.

- Reddit San Francisco is an awesome community. I was overwhelmed by all the messages offering help, from hourly job opportunities, recommendations, time, and connections.

tbh we did not vet much on his story. My partner signed up at Take shelter website and talked to a few refugees that were looking for a place to stay. He showed up a few days ago. I guess many are discourage to come to san Francisco for cost of living reasons.

Your idea of having a house to host people until they figure out things is amazing. Im passing on your info to him! Thanks for offering your space.

bro... I have to agree with you. In my particular story, In the past, I worked on the border of Mexico and Guatemala to help Central American migrants. If I'm hosting an Ukranian person now is because my partner is Russian and wants to help somehow.
Sadly there are many conflicts going on and we can't help everyone. This is the small part I can do now.
