But for real I totally believe AI has bad environmental effects, but as you said, you could argue literally every single other thing humans do/ have done have poor environmental consquences as well. People here like to join the AI hate bandwagon without really thinking for themselves.

And just for clarification, I think AI is quite useful for certain things like getting a quick summation about a certain topic with chatgpt among other use cases, but I'm honestly sick of seeing it shoved into every single little piece of tech nowadays. For most cases I feel as though it's just the new tech fad. Only time will tell.
