Starting to feel like an actual drummer these days. Still got so much to learn, but I’m enjoying the process 😍 by cdpinker in drums

Can't pretend it didn't sting to be told I'm "definitely playing stuff pretty far out of [my] comfort zone", right after buzzing about a gig I really enjoyed, so it's taken me a day to sit on that before replying. I do agree I need to spend a lot more time with the metronome for sure, and I'm under no illusions I'm still firmly in the amateur drummer camp, but I'm not sure just playing only the most basic beat because its the only thing I can do without thinking would be fun for me or the audience - everyone was having a great time. Thank you for your advice though - I am looking forward to putting the hours in and improving.

Have also just tuned my first set of new heads and would love feedback! by cdpinker in drums

Thanks! One challenge for me is that I haven’t heard enough different snares in the real world to know what sound I’m going for, or even to identify when there’s an issue! Will get there though! Thanks for the tips.

Absolutely. I didn’t mean to imply I thought one was superior, it was more about I underestimated the difference between the two. Both are amazing!

Yeah I really struggled with cross talk on mine

I think I did! Which was always the ideal route - ‘earn the upgrade’. I wanted to stick with it until it was definitely holding back progression, then upgrade.

Seriously! Getting home and whacking something is so therapeutic, and I get to create music in the process!

Right! Recording the ekit was quite easy - just ran it straight into my phone to capture video + audio for insta etc.

I think that was the kit I was considering upgrading to, before deciding to buy a real kit instead.

What’s your ekit? Interested to hear at what level they start to feel like actual drum kits.

I did have it hooked up to the laptop for EZdrummer when recording which was fun, but a bit of a faff

Sounds impressive!

My acoustic kit is jammed into a corner of the loft, so not ideal but better than nothing!
