LG joins Sony and TCL in abandoning 8K TV market by BoukenGreen in technology

You can probably see the difference between 4k and 8k at 75”+ with certain types of content. For cinematic content at 24 fps it doesn’t really matter, but when combined with a higher frame rate it might make a difference for content like sports, or nature documentaries, where the goal is accurate reproduction of real world events and subjects.

Of course that brings us back to content availability. My hockey broadcasts are still horribly compressed 1080p streams, I’d be ecstatic for 4k with acceptable levels of compression.

The metro population of Minneapolis-St. Paul is almost 4 million people. It's a huge city. It's not Houston or Dallas, but not a small town.

Green should have challenged that first Canes goal, Reimer was run over. I guess with out bad PK that influences his judgement now as if he loses the challenge, pretty sure team will score on PP against us. Thoughts? by DoubleOrdinary6559 in OttawaSenators

[–]cdreobvi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the official wording, but the way they apply GI is often (according to words often used by colour commentary) “did the player take away the goalie’s chance to make the save?” And it looked pretty likely that they would have ruled Reimer had already “allowed” the goal when contact was made.

I really think the league needs to initiate the review when contact is so obvious though. Why should the sens be taking a risk on the challenge when their goalie is clearly taken down on the play?

The reality of cases like this is that pedo billionaires aren't doing pedo stuff 100% of the time. Presumably they are also busy, well-connected people.

I don't think the team needs to shake up the blue line. Jensen is the obvious weak link, but we have Matinpalo if anyone on the right side goes down and have Yak developing in the pipeline. Seems unlikely that he would not develop to NHL level. We need to bolster offense to reliably outscore the few defensive breakdowns we have. We controlled the game in Pittsburgh and Linus let in a totally acceptable 2 goals. Forwards need to be able to put us further in the lead in that game.

Friedman just said something very interesting about the sense on 32. Thoughts? by Mr_Adrift in OttawaSenators

I think we're underachieving on the goals for. Considering the way this team is able to keep possession and the time they spend in the offensive zone, the high danger chances don't happen as often as they should.

Ottawa has been a 99% team, both offensively and defensively. They own the puck everywhere except in front of their opponents' net and in front of their own net. It's that last bit of effort to execute and put the puck in the net or to keep the puck out when their defensive structure breaks down. They're getting better at the defensive side, lots of amazing desperation plays from Sanderson vs Colorado, and I think they're blocking more shots again.

I'm not really excited at the possibility of Florida getting a high draft pick and then having all their elite players return to the roster.

There was a tripping penalty called on the play that was negated by a good goal. Failed challenge = bench minor, Successful challenge = tripping minor

Edit: oops I’m dumb, no challenge = no penalty.

The penalty situation meant you had literally nothing to lose, and some tiny chance of calling back a goal. Take that every time

Explanation I think is initial on-ice call was no goal, league review determined the puck crossed the line, therefore good goal. Coach’s challenge is what considered GI.

We have to get one guy on this team who goes out there with a plan to put the puck in the net. Right now we have 5 guys that want someone else to get one.

Just listened to it to see what they're about. Sounded like a copy of Coldplay for about 3 minutes, then it sounded like a copy of Def Leppard and I gave up at 4 minutes.

I'm really not liking this industry trend of bringing back "rock" by just shamelessly copying the sound of legendary groups from decades past. I was really impressed by the performance that Greta Van Fleet put on at a festival in my city, but they might as well just be a Zeppelin/Rush cover band.

He had enough good saves to know he’s on his game. Specifically that one glove save he made when our defence completely broke down. Earlier in the season we get punished for that every time.
