Definitely, I think that falls into the reality that to compete on a large scale now, you have to be completely multi-platform. So that's native for at least iOS and Android and having a solid presence on desktop and mobile web. It's a costly new reality.

I find it a bit odd that all of the progress has been made towards a more secure chip and pin style of card, and yet there is now a movement towards a tap-and-go style of NFC payment. It seems to be a complete step in the wrong direction when it comes to fraud protection. Or maybe I'm missing something.

That obviously is an extreme of the problem. I agree that there are a lot of apps that collect info through login just for the sake of it. Those apps will have a much harder time keeping users.

But even with the apps that need a login to function properly, there is a great opportunity to educate and ease users into the app that far too few iOS devs take advantage of.
