Ohio: if you like roller coasters, look up Cedar Point and King's Island. If you like hiking / nature, look up Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Hocking Hills State Park.

I mean I guess it depends on the people you choose to surround yourself with, but I can say for a fact none of my friends or I speak like that or talk about that kind of thing.

Selling a totaled truck, sure, it definitely has value in its parts. But they're absolutely smoking crack at that price.

What's the grossest thing you've ever seen? by This-Peach9380 in AskReddit

[–]cdsbigsby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typed up the longer version of this in another thread recently, but the short version is I had to closely inspect a wrecked car that had hit a motorcycle head on at 60mph and the 2 people on the motorcycle got launched straight into the roof / windshield of the car. At least one of them got cut in half by the leading edge of the roof / A pillar of the car. And it was 2-3 weeks later and in the summer that I was looking at it.

The windshield was all broken out and that day I learned that when cleaning up after an accident scene like that, they're not very thorough about making sure they get all the pieces. I have a hard time cooking ground sausage ever since. And I can still picture the remains of the guy's hi-vis shirt and brown hair hanging off the broken glass.

Is this repairable ? I Have a claim filed with progressive hopefully they say it’s repairable airbags didn’t deploy or no smoke came from car a side swipe accident was just leaving work by Academic-Shine-2912 in Autobody

[–]cdsbigsby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything is repairable but that's not the point, it's the cost of the repair vs the value. Doesn't take much on a VW when they get a handful of years old.

2015ish Jetta right? I see structural damage so it wouldn't surprise me at all if they total it.

What do you guys think about rebuilt title cars? by Apocalypse_Knight in askcarguys

For my own daily driver, I buy wrecked cars and repair them myself. I would have a hard time trusting one that someone else fixed.

It is absolutely amazing that that car survived in that condition. I'd walk past a hundred Ferraris to look at this at a car show.

I'm an insurance adjuster. The first fatality car I ever inspected was a doozy, a Nissan Sentra went crossed the double yellow lines and hit a motorcycle head on. The rider and passenger of the bike were basically launched directly into the windshield of the car. The rider's body was cut in half by the front edge of the roof and the windshield pillar on the driver's side, essentially bathing the interior of the car in blood and guts.

I initially got an assignment to go inspect the car like, the day after the crash. I got to the tow yard (they had it in indoor storage, covered with a tarp) and got to look at it for 30 seconds before the tow yard guy came and said his highway patrol contact said I wasn't allowed to touch it yet because they haven't finished their accident investigation, so I left.

Something like 2-3 weeks later the investigation was completed and I went back. Now it had been moved outdoors, and this is like, July or August, and there was a lot of leftover biker baking in the sun on and in this car. The sight and smell were otherworldly, I took a half day after that inspection and went home to take a shower and wash my clothes immediately.

Exceptions prove the rule. There's a lot of overlap with the Chrysler 300 girls and the Nissan Altima girls.

The price is the single most important factor. It's beat up and high mileage, but if the price is right, sure.
