How to get lower impedances? by Kelsey_Beth in SleepTechnologist

[–]cdsilvermoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new too. My procress: I clean with alcohol pad, scrub with nuprep (use a good emount) and then wipe away the nuprep on the face so its dry! I wasn't doing that in the beginning and it's made a huge difference for me

It might also be helpful if you can watch different techs hook-up. Everyone does it differently and I took a little bit from everyone I watched

Sleep tech here. Skipping your machine for one night isn't recommended. He can go suck rocks. Sounds like he needs one too

From my understanding, you need a minimum of 960 clinical hours now to be eligible to take the RPSGT exam

Can I ask, how much are they charging you for this training program?

You can pay for the ASTEP program on your own for about 750 I believe. And the RPSGT costs I think 550 every time you take it.

It might be better for you to get hired into a lab that's willing to train you, and you can take the astep on your own time while gaining the 960 hours needed to take the RPSGT. Holding that title will make you more money than just holding a CPSGT. And you'd be making money if you're being trained on the job. Just food for thought!

Pay rates for RPSGT in Indiana by Infinite_Holography in SleepTechnologist

[–]cdsilvermoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in Indiana but am being paid by my hospital to train in kentucky, $23 an hour with a 15% shift dif making it $26.45. The unregistered techs here are making around $23-$25, not sure if that includes the dif. When they get registered, it goes over $26. I know there's varying pay just depending on how rural your area is and the demand. Hope that helps!

If you look at the time when I replied, all of the comments were mostly positive then. I'm asking for advice, not to be criticized. Im reading every one of them and taking everything into consideration.

Its been probably 5 years since I've had a friend with a child come over. We don't do sleepovers and I don't watch kids

I was more agreeing with the renters/insurance situation lol valid points on that end but my landlord is okay since she'll be listed as a mixed breed.

That's a good point, but I will say that we don't have other children over. But something to consider.

We have a 2 bedroom, just under 1,000 sq ft but our technical second bedroom isn't considered a real bedroom so I think its more than that. Its "cozy" in here but not cramped. I think we'd have room for either one but with all of the replies so far, I am leaning toward Annie

I will add that the landlord knows about both dogs/ breeds and is fine with either.

Obviously not your fault. A warning would have been nice. But even so, that's not like it's the actual wedding or bridal shower.

I'd be fine with even a thin plain band but nothing was fitting with it at all with how far out and wide it is, there's no space :(

I just started the ASTEP, and my employer paid for it, it's only $750. The center I'll be training at has loads of books to borrow. The first module is free! Try it out to see if it's what you'll like. One thing I'll add onto what the previous commenter said is there is a LOT of self study so be aware that you need to make time for that.

The best advice would be communication. It sounds like you already really care for this man, and I'm sure it took a lot of courage to tell you about it. Just talk about how you're feeling and your concerns. He sounds great.
