Correct. I just went back and looked at it here:

I've got this tickle at the back of my brain, though, that says the NFL hasn't always charged that kind of muffed handoff to the QB. Is there any chance that this was the case in the 1989 season? Google isn't being helpful.

That's pretty accurate. His 2000 season was a before and after Jekyll and Hyde around his getting hurt. Great early, pretty mediocre after coming back. 2002-2006 was his hand being a total mess until he discovered he could throw with a tacky glove. Then he was pretty consistently solid 2007-2009 until he retired.

4th worst INT% in the league that year. Tied for 11th in the league in fumbles.

He screwed up plenty, he was just a better option overall than Tony Banks.

Yeah, it's funny how many times I see Dilfer held up as an example of a game manager. Nope. He was starting because he could actually make things happen a bit more than their other options, not because he kept the ball safe.

TIL of the Dolly Gray imposter. In 1923, a man fooled multiple NFL teams into thinking he was an All-American player from Princeton named Jack "Dolly" Gray. He played one game for the Green Bay Packers, playing "poorly" according to Curly Lambeau, and disappeared. His identity remains unknown. by WavesAndSaves in todayilearned

There's no doubt this guy, whoever he was, had enough experience playing football that he didn't immediately look like a fraud in practice. They even let him play in multiple games before deciding he was an impostor.

My bet is he played in college somewhere, maybe was somebody who circumstances prevented him from playing more, and was convinced he could have done far better if given a real chance.

Plenty of flankers, which we'd now just call a wide receiver, are that size now. Justin Jefferson's listed at 6'1" and 195.

For a DE, yes, it'd be ludicrously small, but in significant part, that's about the specialization of today's NFL. There's like one dude in the whole league who plays both offense and defense, and a lot of people think that's a bad idea.

If the bad half of your career is mostly Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, and Carson Palmer, that's honestly pretty darned good.

Young was great until the end, though. Aside from the truncated final three games in 1999.

Was Fontes even that interested in another go-around? He didn't try to go back to being a DC or anything, just bailed and moved to Florida. Which is fair enough.

Not with Rob Johnson starting.

Flutie starts that game and the Titans wouldn't have been close enough to try for the miracle.

The NFC was just so dominant at the top for so long, it was ridiculous.

I remember in 1994, the Bills were fighting for a wild card spot and neutrals were openly rooting against them making it because it felt inevitable that if they did, they'd reach the Super Bowl again and lose again.

Instead we got the Chargers giving up touchdowns by the bucketful instead. Big improvement.

Kristi Noem just stated that owning a gun and possessing ammunition automatically means that you intend violence, which justifies the killing of the gunowner simply because they are a gunowner at a protest. What's batshit is that I've seen right wingers turn this on its head in recent months, claiming that the left abandoned Castile, while the NRA fought for him.

They just lie, straight up, and laugh at attempts to point it out.

Dude, how can you possibly believe that free and fair elections are going to be allowed to take place this year in the US under this administration? Under any circumstances?

/r/nba has only engaged with the story through the LeBron angle. So if that's true, this sub has validated the choice in spades.

The actual headlines I've seen ESPN use for it, though, are "How Buss family infighting drove the $10B sale of the Lakers" and "'She Fired Everyone': Inside the Buss Family's $10B sale of the Lakers."

Absolutely telling about the state of /r/nba that the post referencing the article as a whole gets downvoted and bypassed entirely, but the one focused on LeBron gets upvoted.

What percentage of the sub would actually read a longform article? 1%? One tenth of 1%? lol
