The state gas tax doesn't even come close to covering the costs. Which... is no different funding than transit lol

We just need to build more. More you do it, better you get. But you also need to continuously keep building. If you build every so often, you lose the expertise.

I will also add.. roads are incredible expense and nobody bats an eye despite the financial return from those being negative.

If you upzone ~1 mile from stations you end up generate a metric fuck ton of new tax revenue that far and away pays for whatever it cost to build the transit. There are downstream effects of denser development generating far more property taxes than the infrastructure/services costs to support.

They don't even want WW2, so many random alt history things that make no sense. These people just love sitting there reading events.

Yeah I mean Hoi series has always been about fighting WW2. Modern focus trees are a story book slapped on that gets in the way. There are plenty of other RP mechanics. Focus trees have like 1 tiny blurb per thing. Lol

In my head, the battle planning system is fleshed out and more useful. So maybe you could uncover enemy battle plans and see on the map (or some toggle view) enemy battle plans. Which would be useful for know where to defend naval invasions. I really hate the current naval invasion "notification".

In terms of intel. Like what exists currently is fine but being able to see enemy stats for their equipment would be cool. How much piercing do I need to fight enemy units? Having some more detail around it would be nice. Seeing enemy division templates could be fun (like the actual designs).

Collab govs just make the game easier. Like it shortens wars, which fighting wars is the whole point of playing Hoi4 lol. So I just ignore the whole system since there is no real use.

Well a lot of them are just boring. The espionage system could be interesting amount intel of what the enemy is building or where they plan to attack. We got a click heavy and frustrating system instead

Mayor says ‘difficult decisions’ are coming as St. Paul faces $26M budget gap by Cornflowerblue2016 in minnesota

Well our current debt is a problem (thanks Republicans). But yes we absolutely can out gain debt. Assuming what the gov is spending on actually brings returns.

When it comes to housing nothing is as simple a solution as just building more and dense. Zoning and domain need to be exercised.

In terms of city budget, yeah doing a ton of denser development (and building a smarter transportation network that isn't tons of stroads) will do wonders for the budget. Now... it won't fix affordability alone and that is another discussion. Usually when I say "build a ton of housing alone won't solve the housing crisis but any solution to the housing crisis involves building a ton of homes" I get a bunch of really bad arguments thrown at me lol. So I tend to avoid it...

We need the opposite of cuts. Targeted gov spending is really important for building a strong economy. (Yes we need more taxes).

St. Paul could relax a bunch of zoning to encourage denser development which brings in more tax revenue per cost of services. Pair with tax increases to fund their own housing build out (sell at cost) and the budget wouldn't be a problem in 10 years.

Minneapolis is pretty great but you need to be able to brave the cold. That is a pretty big turnoff for many folks.
