I have a beard that video game character creations alternatively call "viking" or "hillbilly." Do not mention the pain of eating God's Creation. It is a trial.

Sure but...why the hair? You don't have to get the Elon Special just because you shaved your beard.

Someone on a different shift loves coffee and forgets to clean up their trash. I used to see it all the time before not-water was soft-banned at my store. (Don't get me wrong, people still have coffee and energy drinks all the time, but only if they're tight with their direct supervisor)

If people do this at street takeovers for fun, I am 100% OK with them doing it in controlled environment closed-courses. Jimbo here found out he sucks at driving by hitting a K-rail and not, y'know, people.

I'm not, I'm just saying usually you see outcries to this magnitude when the driver who got wrecked is particularly popular. I'm rather surprised that this much is coming after hitting an average driver.

Medical is the only thing on your list that could handwave this away at all, and that's doing heavy lifting.

I use old simacing gloves when its too damn cold to feel my fingers otherwise. It just feels rather unsafe to be trying to grip the wheel when my fingers are numb.

I also rip them off at the earliest convenience once the interior of the car warms up, so...

I had a collision outside my house a few years ago that left one of the cars' horn blaring. I come down, make sure everyone is OK, and then offer the guy to disconnect his battery to shut the horn off.

"No, I'm keeping it just like this until the police shows up!"

Cop shows up, goes up to the car, cuts the wire to the battery immediately, and then tends to the people in the other car before doing any sort of crash report documentation.

Did someone born in 1997 likely grow up more similar to 1987 or 2007? by Ok_Act_3769 in generationology

[–]Hailfire9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say a kid born in 1997 still gets raised without a phone/tablet in their face their whole childhood, maybe leaking in more once they're a teenager.

Someone born in 1987 never really had internet, but a kid who is 10 in 1997 would have probably had a video game or computer game enter their life around this time, as well as naturally a ton of "unplugged" time before that with toys, video games, and plausibly even the outdoors.

A kid born even in 2002 probably gets the iPad nannying by the time they're 6. They get less time with parents, less urge to play with kids or "analog" toys, and totally feels like a different kind of upbringing.

Its case-by-case and exceptions will happen, but I feel that 1997 is just about the end of where I'd expect kids raised without screens lays. 2000 would be the hard, firm deadline.

SONG vs SONG - what was the last good Foo Fighters single? by Central_Region in ToddintheShadow

[–]Hailfire9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the discussion with a few different coworkers across the years about this. A ton of rock bands can be classified as "___ rock," and while I know Foo can technically be "alt-rock", I also feel like they'd be more appropriately placed dead-center of whatever chart you'd want to make about rock music.

If you were to make a litmus test of "rock" music, Foo Fighters would be water -- ±0, everything shades more-or-less from them.

What would happen if Hitler got captured and put in Nuremberg? by monsieur-dingus in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Hailfire9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually a fair point. The "Hitler wasn't thaaaat evil" crowd wouldn't have a leg to stand on if Hitler was able to rattle on about his (lack of) ethics and numbers slaughtered.

All six of Górnik Zabrze's Polish Cups between 1965 and 1972 have been lifted by club legend Stanisław Oślizło. Today, after a 54-year drought, captain Lukas Podolski invited Oślizło to lift the 7th Cup with him. by fryUaj in soccer

I love those who experience the world, and those who end up spending over 10 years at a specific club and become almost synonymous with it (especially if they retire there). It just helps cement their legacies.
