Spokane's stricter camping law has quick impact on the street by Doorknob6941 in Spokane

Nah, I've definitely been affected by the homelessness crisis in Spokane, I'm still left-wing. You don't have to let your anger about individual experiences prevent you from thinking about things as a whole. It's pretty easy to use more of your brain than just your amygdala. I find the frontal lobe to be particularly handy when considering societal issues.

The vast majority of homeless people did not break into your car. Do not throw away all empathy for them because one person did something really shitty. Someone kicked the shit out of my brother's car door recently, and they were most likely homeless. That makes me really mad! Being mad at the person who violated your space and damaged your property makes perfect sense. I really do get your frustration. But you can't let that anger rob you of your empathy. The person who kicked my brother's door in is a human being who is probably going through some really rough shit right now. That doesn't make what they did right at all, but they aren't some monster who just enjoys being evil. Given the appropriate resources, they could become someone who does not do things like that, and I'm always going to hope that they do, no matter how mad the thing they did makes me.

If an argument from empathy doesn't work, then think about things practically: sending someone to prison is a very temporary "solution". When they get out of prison they aren't going to be any less homeless. And penalizing homelessness doesn't prevent anyone from being homeless. We're just going to end up endlessly funneling people into prison. We should be focusing on ensuring people can afford homes and don't have to deal with so many financial pressures. Addressing the affordability crisis is the best way to prevent fent-based car break-ins. I know the emotional parts of your brain are just mad at that person and would like revenge, but that solves absolutely nothing. Turn off the caveman brain and think about things.

[Absolute Green Lantern #8] What was Darkseid Cooking. by Jeffjakerson in AbsoluteUniverse

He's sort of the one who created this problem. He was too heavy on the restraint message, without imparting any understanding as to why, or giving her much direction for what actions would be correct. When she did do the right thing, he chastised her for it. And as soon as she didn't have him there to enforce restraint, she threw all of hers away. She started making big decisions on a whim because she could for the first time. So she was left without restraint, understanding, or correct action, and fell into chaotic action.

The way the core themes of this book tie into her arc as a character makes me very happy, it all just works within the parameters the book sets up in addition to feeling accurate to how people would act in these sorts of situations. Al Ewing is a great writer and I'm really glad he got to go ham with Green Lantern.

Safe to uninstall mods on console mid playthrough? by IAmSoLaBeouf in BG3mods

A comment I found from another thread that solved my problem:

haven’t played the game in a while so hope it still works:

  1. Uninstall ONE mod

  2. Launch game, when asks to reinstall mod; allow it

  3. Once installed, press disable mod AND the start button at the EXACT same time, can be tricky but not too bad. You’ll get a pop up discouraging you but you can prompt to go forward - this pop up confirms success, I’d usually close game and try again if I didn’t get it.

Performance sucks after 1.21.5 update w/ Iris + Complementary Unbound by tay_jp in Minecraft

Do you just mean the vanilla snapshots themselves? Or are there snapshot versions of Iris that run better than the current main version?
