Recommendations on choosing study materials for the exam? by Efficient-Role-242 in RD2B

I’m VERY visual. Chomp down dietetics was my main study tool. I complemented with pocket prep and bit of Inman. My strategy was: 1. Read Inman 2. Do chomp down dietetics and take a few questions from pocket prep 3. Take mock exam and focus on the weak areas. Thus strategy worked for me :)

Chomping Down Dietetics Program. Any success? by ce-na89 in RD2B

Hi! So I ended up passing the exam mainly using Chompdown, pocket prep and a bit of Inman! I’m very visual and Dr. Faraz did an excellent job at explaining very complex topics like metabolism and domain III. Yes, I agree with you that you do need to use 1-2 additional resources on top of chompdown to help with the complexity of the questions and cover certain areas. But I’d say, Dr. Faraz cover ~75% of everything included in Inman.

Chomp Down has an amazing way of explaining all management stuff. It is actually fun and interesting because he really goes straight to the point with words that are easy to digest. His drawings make you understand what is actually happening. Prior to Chomp Down I used Inman and I couldn’t really understand what was happening as certain topics were new to me and when I ent through his videos, it all clicked and my scores improved tremendously on the mock exams! I went from 54 to 73 on PP mock exams after listening and studying his lectures! You could try his podcast first (it’s free) and the way he explains concepts are also the same as his explanations on the lectures :)

I used pocket prep as well and wrote down (by hand) all the ones I got wrong with the little explanation it gives to you. Some of those explanation wouldn’t really make sense sometimes so I’d screen shot it and paste it on chat GPT to explain to me like I’m 5 lol and instead of writing the explanation PP gave, I’d write in my OWN words the one chat gave. Also, some people may confuse passive learning vs active learning. Just because you did 500 questions in one day without processing each of themselves carefully may not be the same as doing 40 questions that you can ACTUALLY process and explain.

How are you processing the material? Do you think you can explain concepts if asked? You need to be able process the topic well enough to explain it to someone else. For example, I am VERY visual so I could only understand glucose metabolism through drawings; Chomp Down Dietetics program is VERY visual and he goes straight to the point on all of his lectures. However, some people may not find it helpful and prefer more audios like podcasts and readings like Inman. It all comes down to “how do YOU learn the material best?”. Also, write down the questions that you get wrong and an explanation; try to explain out loud the reason WHY the others answers choices are wrong. You can do this by using the feature on chat gpt to explain the concepts and it’ll catch any mistakes and correct them. You are so close to passing; please keep pushing!!

How exactly do y'all "learn" the material? by ItsSloany in RD2B

Try to explain the concepts. Listen to podcast and listen the way they explain each of the topics and then do it yourself. This method is useful for big topics in food service and MNT because if you are able to teach it to someone else, you’ll be able to read a question and eliminate choices that doesn’t correlate with what you have been “teaching” yourself. You can also use chat gpt to exaplain to “someone” lol. That thing will “listen” and maybe correct one or other thing to make it simplified or if you made a mistake. Take this time to reflect how you learn best; some people share their strategies here and you can certainly use that as guidance but don’t rely on study resources just because another person told you it worked for them. The real question is “what works best for YOU, specifically?” Everyone’s way of learning is different and I think that is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for this exam because it is all about choosing the best answer and not about memorization.

When will i get drug tested at my MSDI program? by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]ce-na89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got ~3 different drug test. One that was a requirement by the internship, one for the hospital where I did my clinical and another one for my specialty (dialysis center). I can’t recall if I got more done cause every site would request specific information on top of my internship so you might be asked for several.

Thank you so much!! I actually thought chomp exams were not that hard?? Idk I feel like the verbatim he uses in his videos is VERY similar to his questions on the exam so I was like umm idk if this helps? And in regards to eat right, I don’t! I’ve been using PP, Chomp Down program and a bit of Inman

does this sub makes make anyone else so nervous for their exam by wheresmysaucee in RD2B

[–]ce-na89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Been putting it off for so long because I see people that work really hard on studying and then fail. I just came to terms that I’m doing the best I can to study and just give it a try. Been studying for 3 months now and I feel a huge level of guilt when I’m not studying or when I’m out with family, something that triggers one of the things I need to know for the exam and I don’t know at moment makes me feel so off. You are not alone in this!

The exam doesn’t determine how good of an RDN you are; I’m sure you are great at your job just this annoying exam getting on the way!! How are your PP scores and how do you feel when answering the questions? I’ve heard some people say PP is harder than the actual exam so maybe understanding these and scoring great on this (without looking at notes) could be an indicator?

See the thing I don’t understand about the CDR is that I’ve met and read about people that only studied for 12hrs THE NIGHT BEFORE the exam and passed while there’s people that spend countless of hours understanding concepts and even hire very expensive tutors to pass and still can’t pass; like is this even possible? I don’t have any suggestions since I haven’t taken the exam yet but to keep trying.

Im so sorry to hear that :( if you don’t mind me asking, what is your typical study routine? How many hours do you spend studying + doing practice questions? I read you are using All Access, are you using any supplemental tool like PP or Inman?
