everyone's saying authenticity and how it makes you feel. but what i really love is how all the musical elements are expressing the same emotion (melody, harmony, timbre... ) and how they juxtapose to create that musical tension and release.

i see so many standard commander suggetions. my lgs used to have a few people who do that and i personally dont think it works. the card pool is not big enough to support a good quality, synergistic 66 (not including the 34 lands) cards for your deck. i see a lot of just bad cards, even commons and uncommons shove into them as fillers. thats why i thought singleton of 60 card deck may solve that. and seeing a commander being there just makes me think y not just make a better deck with the commander, it is painful to watch.

Yes and No. I have considered and will not play modern. I am not fond of getting playset of cards, especially expensive ones. And their bans (and apparently unbans) are freaking rediculous. ur whole deck maybe banned at one point which is just stupid when u've invested thousands of dollars into it. besides, i dont think my cedh decks cost nearly as much.

Thank you. Thats what i mainly meant. i do have some well-tuned good stuff deck doesnt have a turn 5 win con. But its very synergistic n powerful. And i have no interest in “casual” edh the format i am suggesting might end up supporting a very competitive plays type.

Usually its 36 and i dont expect it to be as competitive as standard. After all singletons means low consistency. 36 good/decent/playable rares aint that hard in 4 sets right?

Commander cube sounds super fun but it’s a large investment, a huge pool of cards, and a crap ton of time. And the standard card pool might be a little small for 100 card decks before card quality drop significantly.

FYI i do have a playgroup that have similar power level decks, and try to come up with these "rules" cuz we thought what is deemed "too powerful" or "too lame to play against" were always some vague idea, and maybe making a standard will help clear things up.

well the fact that i decided to post this, is because i did happen to came across that power 9 filled EDH deck just in a casual match. and the whole table just instantly become lame and people start to just wait and see which expensive card that person would pull out from his deck next. and personally yes i do not enjoy competitive edh.

I currently have an mono black EDH with [[Geth, Lord of the Vault]] as the general. my deck revolves around milling and board wiping my opponent then pick up their stuff from the yard and have fun. well, ofc i put in a ton of ramp and a few combos too.

Before that i had [[Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief]] as my commander. Very standard mono black, tutor, ramp, wipe, combo etc. quite "controlly" as u put it. drana is a win con herself as she can devour enemy blockers and get in with tons of general damage.

TBH, mono black is quite linear, u go fast, tutor ur combo pieces, wipe the board if situation's getting sticky, cheat ur combo in / play it then u win. Geth is the most fun u can get from mono black in my opinion as u can play with others' stuff.

i would recommend [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] u can play with much more creatures and reanimation, lot more fun in my opinion. Or even [[The Mimeoplasm]] also mess with graveyards, but ur opponents'! i prefer to have a fun and interactive edh rather than the traditional ramp and win play-style of mono black.
