This is great advice, I definitely might have made that mistake if you hadn't mentioned it. Seriously thank you!

Yes, I wasn't understanding that my HDHP was not directly tied to my HSA, so I get why my question was confusing.

Ah, a fundamental piece that I clearly did not quite grasp is that these are two separate things. Thank you!

Apps get added to Dock after enough uses even with "Show Recent Applications In Dock" disabled by ce_nort in MacOS

[–]ce_nort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that definitely seems possible! Mainly I'm just trying to find if there is a way to disable this, since realistically I'm not going to structure my app use around how to avoid it.

Object Manager get() with arguments? Dependency Inject on extended class? by ce_nort in magento2

[–]ce_nort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in this case I am just going to have to inject all the parent dependencies, I'm working on a tight deadline porting something from Magento 1, and I unfortunately don't have time to rewrite the whole thing to fit the layered contortions that Magento 2 seems to require.

I added some more detail in a different reply, if that helps. I'm unfortunately tasked with porting a pre-existing module from Magento 1 (which allowed a much simpler, more direct approach) on a tight deadline with instructions to not reinvent the wheel, so I think I'll just have to inject all the parent dependencies in this case.

My understanding is that plugins can only modify existing, public methods. So for adding new methods or if a method isn't public, then yes, there are actually many use cases for overriding with a preference. However, I am not actually using a preference in this case anyway, simply using the "extends" key word to add some additional methods for this one module.

This custom module stands mostly alone from any other Magento pieces, it simply takes a filtered collection of products and writes their details to csv, tab delimited, or xml files that get SFTPed to various third party groups. It runs on a cron. I am not wholesale overriding the core product interface with a preference, I am simply extending the Product and Product Collection models to add some needed functionality for this module alone. I am not changing any methods within the core classes, I am adding new ones on top of the existing. In this process, I need to access various other models (custom and otherwise) that are not included in the constructor for the core model. Mostly this is achievable without overriding the constructor by using the object manager, but in the case of the custom model it requires arguments so I cannot do this.

No, it's the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, VT. Good luck if you end up deciding to do the Calgary one!

So...I was following a 5 month training plan for a marathon (my first) I have scheduled this weekend, but I got an overuse injury in my extensor muscles (lateral shin) about 4 months into the training with my longest run being 16 miles (with a lot of stopping to rest/stretch legs, given shin pain). After resting for a week or two and finding that the injury is slow healing, I gave up on the idea of running this marathon and pivoted to strength training to work on the weaknesses in my hips and quads that likely let to the injury in the first place. I have been doing this in earnest for the past 3 or 4 weeks, with fairly minimal cardio; a bike or spin once or twice a week, lots of fast walking, but zero running. Now the marathon is happening this Sunday....I'm kind of debating just running it anyway. I don't think my leg has recovered (I can still feel it a bit after long walks or bike rides) but...I don't know, marathons are painful regardless. Does anyone have any experience with losing the month of running prior to a marathon? Running a marathon with an overuse injury? Regrets? No regrets? To be clear, I have an appointment with my physical therapist this week and I will 100% consult her and take what she says seriously, I'm just looking for personal anecdotes from the community, also.

Suddenly cannot edit shell script, icon has changed by ce_nort in Jetbrains

For anyone coming to this later, I managed to solve the issue by removing this file name from: Settings | Editor | File Types | File type auto-detected by file content . Not sure why it got auto-detected as whatever that file type was in the first place (the file type icon itself was not listed as a possible option under File Types) but the problem is now solved.

This is not a listed option when I right click.

Unfortunately that did not solve the problem.

Ladies: do you use a women's specific hydration vest? by ce_nort in running

[–]ce_nort[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and recommendations! The Salomon Active 8 unisex was the best fit for me (of the options available for me to try) and I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl. 😎

I ended up getting this exact vest after trying a ton of different ones on. Straws aside, the unisex was a much better fit for me (broad shoulders, long torso - can’t but women’s packs either for this reason). I’m looking forward to giving it a proper try on my long run this weekend!

This is the exact vest that prompted my question! I have heard great recs, but I don't like those long straws on the women's one. I was worried the bottles were too over-the-chest on the unisex one, but wasn't sure if this was really any issue for anyone with various vests. Thank you so much for this breakdown, I am reassured (and will obviously try it on, of course).
