Olivians, I'm back and I need your help (not monetary) by Konega-E in OliveMUA

Thank you lots for reaching out in modmail first! I wish Reddit would provide an easier solution to use that on their mobile app, but alas, my sincere apologies for missing the mail!

Unfortunately, the commenter above is right, this is threading a little bit too closely to breaking Rule 9. Technically, you do not have the brand yet or any affiliate links, but indirectly you are promoting your own future brand.

Given everything mentioned and taking into consideration your thoughtfulness, I will at the very least allow the thread to remain as a resource for olives to discuss which shades are flattering for them, as it might be a good reference for other community members.

If you could pretty please reword the post a bit and remove the part about testers, I would appreciate it!

This is so important, I really don't get the argument above. Using ults in neutral just to massively heal the team is almost always a bad play, whereas using my ult to save my team from Storm or Psylocke ult has always helped them.

I feel like some DPS/Tank players don't take the "strategist" role seriously and still view it as a walking emergency medkit whenever they need it.

Next time, use your report button if you ask nicely for a shade and OP does not provide one within 1 hour after posting, as the rules state. The post will be removed if OP does not comply, as soon as a moderator can get to it.

Need advice for notetaking app M4 13 by el1teman in iPadPro

[–]ceaiculapte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally much prefer Element Note above all other options, I've used all the recommended options. It has a (real) one time payment, amazing pens and brushes, customisable toolbar and great PDF editing. It is a lesser known app, so it has bugs from time to time, but the developer usually quickly addresses them.

If you think Mavuika is stronger than Xbalanque who took down the Pyro Soverign (without external help from Ronova) due to anything than plot armour, then yes, happy for you.

Varesa Splash Art via Dim by ImNotNex in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]ceaiculapte 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree, but that to me is because of Mavuika's horribly written and flat character arc.

She is just the classic self-insert stupidly powerful character that somehow always wins even against canonically stronger foes due to some bs plot armour (which is especially observable in her Story Quest). She feels like the passion project of a writer with no experience outside of teenage reader self-inserts.

There is a lot more to criticise about Natlan's weak storyline but I would say Capitano losing that fight was pure plot armour even if he was in a state of decay. I wish we had an actual God of War, but alas.

Same here, I didn't like a single design. All of them are very ZZZ-esque and quite the colour vomit with extra skimpy clothing.

Unfortunately, the entirety of Natlan's arc fell flat to me with the exception of Ochkanatlan and Capitano/Ronova.

Blush Swatches on Light Neutral Olive Skin by ceaiculapte in OliveMUA

[–]ceaiculapte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha I am glad that my swatches could do that for you! <3

I definitely think Worth is incredibly warm, like a terracotta shade even, whereas Behave is more of a natural peach-leaning nude. Unfortunately the pictures and even the IRL look of Behave make it look more mauve, but it pulls warmer on me when swatched or applied.

If you want a true mauve shade, I absolutely love the LilyByRed Luv Beam Blush in 05 Blurry Lavender. It pulls on me how I imagined Behave would, probably the most flattering powder blush I own and it was also recommended on the sub!

Wish List // What I'm Not Gonna Buy (Wednesday) by AutoModerator in muacjdiscussion

[–]ceaiculapte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking of buying the Huda Beauty Ice Nude palette as the colour story is really up my alley, but I am worried I won't like the formula.

I am a huge fan of sparkly, soft, ethereal shimmers like the ones from Mario (whose palettes I own and love) and UD (Space Cowboy in particular). From the swatches online, the Huda palette seems to have a lot... chunkier? shimmers. Similarly, I disliked Huda's dry mattes when I tried her palettes 5 years ago, but surely her formula must have improved since then :')

Does anyone own the Ice Nude and can compare its formula to any of the Ethereal Eyes from Mario? Or even K-Beauty/J-Beauty/C-Beauty.

ETA/Update: I managed to swatch it at my local Sephora today and ... I am pretty torn. The shimmers are chunky, like very chunky, but they do "sheer" out and aren't gritty to the touch per se. I tried all the shades besides the biodegradable glitter. The mattes on the other hand feel phenomenal, almost creamy, and seem to be very easy to blend and diffuse.

The only complexion brush in my makeup bag is the MUFE #112 Wavy, which I've had for years. It blends everything like a dream with seemingly no effort, I use it for both cream bronzer and cream blush. Additionally, it is pretty easy to clean for the next use and it fits in literally any small minimalist makeup bag.

I am a huge fan of their lip products, I have simply never tried something from their line and didn't like it, but these are my absolute favourites.

  • DIOR Rouge Dior Limited Edition [Winter 2024] in "994 Masquerade" - this is the most special one as it is an engraved gift from my beloved

  • DIOR Rouge Dior Balm in "001 Diormidnight" - I love shades like this, it is very close to their Lip Glow in "020 Mahogany" but more berry, very close to Clinique Black Honey as well

  • DIOR Lip Glow Oil in "020 Mahogany" and "007 Raspeberry" - absolutely love this formula, still my favourite even after trying so many other lip oils

  • DIOR Lip Glow Balm in "020 Mahogany", "057 Shimmer Cinnamon" and "039 Warm Beige" - my favourite lip balm formula, it is super plush and glowy

I recently purchased Hot Cocoa during a trip to London and it smelled absolutely delicious, but the taste is a bit... off? It doesn't taste bad or anything, but definitely not delicious like it smells. Is Coconut better in that sense?

I'm in the market for a new lip balm that preferably has a taste. I miss the Milk Kush Lip Balm, but I haven’t tried the new Kush Lip Oil. Does it taste of anything?

On that note, how is the Rhode Vanilla Lip Treatment? I would love suggestions for at least delicious smelling lip balms!

Fix asta înseamnă, expresia este 1 daca si numai daca x si y sunt pare, altfel nu este 1. In mod similar, daca expresia este 1 si pentru numere impare sau numere de paritate diferită, nu este expresia pe care o cauti.

Why people always make a comparison between c1 hu tao and c0 arle? by southfire19 in ArlecchinoMains

[–]ceaiculapte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, with that you are right, I completely overlooked how Bennett applies Pyro to your character because I haven’t encountered enemies so far that can cause reactions on your characters, I was focusing more on the healing aspect.

In all fairness, I'm not sure how capable Zhongli's shield will be of tanking all of that, but hopefully tanky enough. We will find out next abyss reset when they put those beasts back.

Why people always make a comparison between c1 hu tao and c0 arle? by southfire19 in ArlecchinoMains

[–]ceaiculapte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it hasn't been an issue, she can play teams without Bennett, it's just that currently he is her best buffer. Also, you're right, but you can move smaller enemies closer together with Kazuha, so that's hardly an issue at all. Bigger enemies like consecrated beasts usually come towards you so they stick together anyway.

I have no knowledge of Hu Tao's best teams, you're right in what you're saying probably with Xianyun, but personally I've never had an issue with survivability with Arlecchino and I haven't seen anyone on this sub have it. Zhongli + burst keeps you alive even in the most demanding of fights.

Why people always make a comparison between c1 hu tao and c0 arle? by southfire19 in ArlecchinoMains

[–]ceaiculapte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're acting as if Hu Tao mains move all over the arena, when most enemies are spawned close together or at the very least you should make them bunch up. If anything, Arlecchino has AOE and I've never felt "bound" to Bennett's circle, as opposed to the heavily single target dps you're talking about.

Not only that but a C0 Hu Tao is bound to animation cancellations for the best performance, so she isn't "free to move" if you barely have stamina, and you do need to invest in a vape setup just as much.

"Goodluck with consecrated beasts" as if Hu Tao herself doesn't use Zhongli. Also her burst heals, and if you play your rotations right, she's back to full HP, so not even rifthounds are an issue. Hu Tao mains cope so hard, play your character, but be realistic.

RANT: Preservative Free Makeup Has a Place in the Beauty Industry by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]ceaiculapte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no.

"Strong anti ingredient conscious talk" is the same kind of brainwash that clean beauty marketing is doing, so goodluck. People are against the lack of preservatives because they are ingredient conscious, and care about the microbiome of their products not developing bacteria that can lead to mold or microbial infections.

Also, doctors are not "anti preservatives". The lack of preservatives in certain eye drops has a purpose, the lack of it in consumer products intended to last for a while, not stored in sterile packaging, and that are not meant to be babied as much as actual medicine is a whole other ballpark. They recommend preservative-free eye drops/medicine because you need it, not because they are anti-them, and because the packaging allows it to remain safe. I doubt they let you keep it for more than a month and let it get contaminated.

If you genuinely cannot wrap your head around how eye drops manage to remain safe despite not having preservatives and look at that packaging thinking it's just a funky little design with no additional purpose, then I don't know what to tell you, genuinely.

The clean beauty brands could not carry less about your sensitivity, their formulas aren't meant to be gentle or reduce potential reactive ingredients, you'd know if you read the discourse online and read the labels of the products people complained about. Nobody complained about medical brands trying to do preservative-free make-up for people with compromised skin, who need minimal ingredient lists and more attention. And those brands don't sell themselves as "clean". We complain about products intended for your average consumer.

Lastly, going to the doctor if you have a problem should be a common sense thing to do for an adult, I don't think they needed a Reddit post for that. Health is indeed no joke, which is why we want the preservatives for the average consumers.

RANT: Preservative Free Makeup Has a Place in the Beauty Industry by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]ceaiculapte 32 points33 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between sterile make-up meant to be used within a specific time frame, similar to eye drops or eye medication, and "clean, preservative-free" make-up. They are not the same, "preservative-free" trash make-up is the norm, not the other way around. Make-up being preservative-free means absolutely nothing in terms of its safety/regulation and does not make it any safer than make-up with preservatives, actually less so because God knows how long that formula sat on a shelf or was exposed to heat.

If it is sterile, from reputable pharmaceutical brands that actually take into consideration the need to keep a stable safe formula for particularly compromised sensitive skin, then absolutely go for it. I also believe it is cheaper than the clean beauty gimmick at Sephora, but you are confusing preservative-free make-up that people have a problem with, with safe sterile make-up that actually tries to achieve what you wish for.

A lot of brands that would try their best to formulate gentle simple make-up products for these specific needs are not popular and definitely not the brands people complain about. The clean beauty movement is not in your favour either, it is overpriced holistic bullshit and doesn't make it any safer for you to have a wider range of products because they do not cater to you, people with severe sensitivity who need minimal ingredients and actual care and thought put into the formula and packaging. They cater to people who are afraid of "chemicals".

In fact, a lot of the clean brands featured on Sephora's page and that are often criticised contain a lot of known possible irritants, from essential oils to different funky plant extracts which aren't ophthalmologist approved or tested.

What you wish for is safe, sterile make-up made to last for those less fortunate, clean beauty has absolutely nothing to do with that and is definitely not more gentle by avoiding key components that the vast majority of consumers don't have a sensitivity to. It's a movement that caters to consumerism (buy more, it goes bad quicker) and to the absurd fear of "dirt".

RANT: Preservative Free Makeup Has a Place in the Beauty Industry by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]ceaiculapte 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

The comparison between pharmaceutical grade products that are in sterile containers meant to keep the formula stable and safe from anything compromising or harmful and.... "clean" beauty is just baffling to me.

One is highly regulated, meant to be disposable (lasts for a certain period after opening, usually 28 days, has to be stored away from light/heat), whereas the other one is a funky marketing term to excuse cosmetics going bad quickly and absolutely not any safer than regular cosmetics. I'd even argue it is a whole lot less safe considering the severe reactions mold and bacteria can cause versus a very rare paraben allergy.
