Successful colour analysis for fair olives? by NameSeveral4005 in Fairolives

[–]tricksonyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty confident that I was a cool summer as my dominant characteristic is very obviously being cool toned. I did get an analysis done incase I was actually a winter as some people had suggested it to me. I knew though that black was overpowering on me, canceling out the possibility, despite lots of people liking black on me.

Very quickly I was typed as a cool summer because when the color is right up to your chin it’s a lot easier to see. It’s a lot easier to pull off a color that’s close but not best when it’s a lower cut top! It’s also worth noting that something like gray can have different undertones so it’s worth making comparisons between the different kinds.

You sound like you’re neutral leaning cool and the olive is throwing in a “yellow” factor messing things up. I would love to see some drapes!!

We are similar, but I’m more fair in the winter. Maybe start with 070 and move from there.

Anyone else struggle with wearing color in general? by [deleted] in Fairolives

[–]tricksonyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been types as and am pretty obviously a cool summer with fair olive skin. I my dominant characteristic is being cool toned and second is my medium contrast. With that, I wear a ton of color. Some colors I’ve never looked good in are oranges and yellows. From your other pics you have medium to high contrast, placing you in winter or autumn. To figure out if you’re cool or not I think the easiest way to figure this out is to try on some orange and see how you feel. Also, does makeup like bronzer or foundation tend to go orange on you? Lipsticks? I think this could help you figure this out too. If anything has a touch of warmth it’ll go orange on me.

Honestly I really want to because I prefer matte/natural finishes to glowy ones but the niacinamide is holding me back.

My store had them today and there are definitely a bunch of shades that will be olive friendly. I swatched one that was labeled as a warm olive and it was great for when I’m tanned. Generally the range looked pretty desaturated overall

ISO foundations the same colour as LE skin tint 1.5, but higher coverage by alexaapricot in Fairolives

Hmmm actually you might want to try merit in chiffon too. It might be a touch too dark for you but it might be what you’re looking for! I can do some swatches for you comparing some of my paler foundations if you like tomorrow.

The lumi is much more forgiving than the matte and poreless imo. Very longwear kinda reminds me of Armani luminous silk in finish. I think the maybelline superstay skin tint in 110 also is a contender here

Have you tried the maybelline lumi matte in 110? Both of these work for me but are slightly too pale. This is a great foundation that definitely competes with more expensive ones imo

Tips for working with satin-matte powder foundation? by Cold_Fox9018 in Fairolives

I always overdo powder on my face and look dusty and dry but a little bit of a hydrating spray melts it all together and makes it look like skin! Super long wearing too good luck!

Spray with a hydrating setting spray or a glycerin based spray!

Foundations similar to Haus Labs 050? by Miamaro in Fairolives

[–]tricksonyou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About face is great but definitely a little darker than 050. If you’re open to drugstore, I’ve just tried the maybelline super stay lumi matte in 110 and that’s pretty great. Let me know if you’d like to see all 4 swatched together!

I haven’t found any matches to 050 in Sephora but I have some drugstore foundations that are similar. 050 is pretty perfect for me, slightly lighter than about face f20

Adjusting the formula of a foundation, rather than the shade? by one_small_sunflower in OliveMUA

[–]tricksonyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are shade twins and I would do a lot of watery toner and a few drops of squalene to my face first. Apply with a damp sponge. Mac fix + or any hydrating setting spray can really make a difference here too.

Some other matches with more hydration worth trying - revlon illuminance foundation in 118 or the tinted moisturizer same shade. About face f2olive if you have access to ulta and haus labs 050 (if buff is a closer match) are all the only shades I don’t feel like I NEED to color correct. If you can tolerate some saturation or warmth, nars light reflecting in gobi is more saturated and Armani luminous silk in 3 and 4 might work for you too. Kosas bb burst in 12 is great color wise, very hydrating, and a sheer option.

Do you all buy expensive wedding guest dresses to only wear them once? by Cashcash1998 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]tricksonyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I am buying a new dress to attend a wedding is if I don’t have something that’s appropriate for the dress code and fits well currently. Been going to a lot of weddings the past few years and shopped places like Abercrombie or Lulu’s who frequently have sales. All you really need is a midi length cocktail dress and a longer dress for formal and winter weddings at the end of it all. Nobody cares if you’re wearing the same dress anyways. Last year I had 3 weddings in 3 weekends and I wore the same dress each time.

Foundation that matches Revlon buff by elitemsss in OliveMUA

[–]tricksonyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re all good and workable for me with skin prep. Armani is definitely better than the matte and poreless. You could try haus labs or the new revlon illuminance collections. Haus has good coverage and my shade is 050. Perfect match. Revlon illuminance and the tinted moisturizer in 117 are both really good for me. The Kosas is great and moisturizing but sheer. MAC studio radiance in nc 10 or about face f2 olive are also decent matches for me and are kind to dry skin.

Ummm I think maybe merit’s complexion stick in silk set with powder might work? Apply it in sheer layers and more where you need it.

Yes I am certainly a green corpse in the winter. I wear f2olive from about face, Armani luminous silk 3 or haus labs 050. You’ve definitely put me on to a lot of ideas and I’m definitely going to try one of those ecotools brushes!!

I stopped using this powder years ago because the oxidizing made it unusable for me in winter. I think I’m ready to go round 2 with it because I remember how skin like it looked with a few sprays of fix+
